I have run a simulation on MES and it says " Clear fault codes, and observe for future appearance of the same fault" on the simulated fault so I guess it is possible to attempt to reset the faults..
What are the fault code/s?

Hi rayc, I just got back from a road trip today, so I haven't ran a scan with MES yet, I'll do it in the morning, on my dashboard I got the red seatbelt warning and the amber passenger airbag light illuminated.

First thing to do is scan and get the DTC. If it's (one of) the most common failures it's unlikely that you'll be able to (permanently) reset/delete.

Choices then in order of rising cost are:

Remove the ECU and send it off to be "repaired". Experience of success appears to be mixed, and Northern Autotech appear to have a better reputation than Crashdata (I've used the former, as I believe has Ray, and I'm now two years in). Removal and replacement is relatively easy but should be done with care. A "repaired" unit is already configured to the vehicle, and won't need Proxi-alignment on refitting. Maybe about £75.

Remove the ECU, check the parts number and buy a new replacement from, say, Coastal Motorhomes. This will probably be a new, updated part and part number. Compatibility should be carefully checked (CM have a cross-check on their website). Install the new one and Proxi-align using MES. (Read up the process on the forum, and make sure you back up the existing config file before re-aligning). ECU pricing seems to have dropped slightly, so maybe about £210.

Visit a Fiat Professional dealer and have a new ECU fitted. Depending on labour charges and how much they want to charge for diagnosis this could be anywhere in the region of £500-£700 or more.

Some people have had Fiat recompense after approaching them. The norm when this happens seems to be the cost of the part (but not any diagnosis or labour). I suspect success is more likely if the vehicle has been serviced from scratch in the Fiat network.

If you decide on either of the first two options, the forum members should be able to guide you to more detailed process.

@HughJampton Thanks for the in depth advice. Tomorrow I'll run MES see what it comes up with. I'll checl my airbag module part number on CM and decide wether to get it repaired or buy new updated one and proxialign. Thanks.

If you're connecting with MES to get the DTC, then the displayed "Fiat drawing number" on the initial page on connecting to the ECU will give you the part number without having to lift the flooring ;) .

(My guess for a 2018 is that it will be 1393755080, but they do vary so it needs a check. The CM page for the replacement for this, with the cross-check numbers below, is https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/fia...air-bag-control-unit-2-3-4-loop-14-on-oe.html )

************* Update***************
Ran MES this morning error code B0100-49. So, decided to get it repaired. Sent off to Northern Auto Tech. So hopefully get it back in couple of days and get it refitted. thanks for all the advice, @HughJampton @rayc
