First thing to do is scan and get the DTC. If it's (one of) the most common failures it's unlikely that you'll be able to (permanently) reset/delete.
Choices then in order of rising cost are:
Remove the ECU and send it off to be "repaired". Experience of success appears to be mixed, and Northern Autotech appear to have a better reputation than Crashdata (I've used the former, as I believe has Ray, and I'm now two years in). Removal and replacement is relatively easy but should be done with care. A "repaired" unit is already configured to the vehicle, and won't need Proxi-alignment on refitting. Maybe about £75.
Remove the ECU, check the parts number and buy a new replacement from, say, Coastal Motorhomes. This will probably be a new, updated part and part number. Compatibility should be carefully checked (CM have a cross-check on their website). Install the new one and Proxi-align using
MES. (Read up the process on the forum, and make sure you back up the existing config file before re-aligning). ECU pricing seems to have dropped slightly, so maybe about £210.
Visit a Fiat Professional dealer and have a new ECU fitted. Depending on labour charges and how much they want to charge for diagnosis this could be anywhere in the region of £500-£700 or more.
Some people have had Fiat recompense after approaching them. The norm when this happens seems to be the cost of the part (but not any diagnosis or labour). I suspect success is more likely if the vehicle has been serviced from scratch in the Fiat network.
If you decide on either of the first two options, the forum members should be able to guide you to more detailed process.
