Yes, i do...
It's from the "So wierd's gemacht" - a german repair manual (haynes alike, but it digs a bit deeper). It's for the Brava/bravo, but the Marea isn't that different...

It looks like a good manual, and even mentions the 2.0

Arbuthnot and me tried the airbox mod a few months back and were impressed with the results.
Things improved even more (acoustically at least) when the back box separated from the exhaust recently and landed on the grass verge, leaving the gases to exit into the vast space that the wheel arch. The results are so good that the exhaust has yet to be replaced - the lack of pipework doesn't show on the nice tidy rear end of the Marea - except on cold mornings. What's more it hasn't affected performance at all, nor consumption when driving normally.

I eventually got around to doing this today. A quick country drive proved how good this is. At idle and in town the difference in noise is minimal, but when you go above 3000 rpm it really roars. The car sounds completely different. I swear there is a bit more poke there as well. It's especially noticeable when acelerating hard in 3rd gear, it sounds great, you can almost feel the noise. I should have done this sooner.

I'll keep an eye on performance and fuel economy to see how it goes.

Your not really gaining that much by modifying the Airbox the smaller elbow acts like a venturi which in turn speeds up the flow of air as is goes in the airbox, (similar to ram air system), it might sound like its more powerful, try it on a dyno and you'll find you lost a little power

Sorry I have to disagree on that one.
By disconnecting the elbow you are removing the entire resonator assembly and allowing a greater air path into the filter box. By removing the restrictions you are allowing the engine to 'breath more freely'. Resonators on family saloons are invariably designed to reduce noise at the expense of power. I admit that they can also be designed to increase power.

A venturi simply speeds up an existing volume of air.

A ram air system collects a larger volume of air than you would normally get and compresses it into a smaller air intake.

I've not been on a dyno with it but it's been on and off several times for varying reasons and IMHO it does run better with it off, even when taking into account all the psychobabble effects of a louder noise.

No shots at the moment but all it is, is unplugging the pipe from the front of the car at the point it goes into the air filter box.

Just been out to the car and made this modification and not had time to try its pseed out. But it sounds amazing! Just gonna get a k and n panel filter now rather than induction kit!

Ok i want to do what you have done but i dont understand! You have the filterbox and out of the back theres a pipe that goes to the engine. At the front theres the pipe that goes to the plastic intake at the front of the car.

What bit are you saying to remove....

the part infront of the airbox that goes to the intake. Done it myself and with the addition of the custom exhaust the sound is terrifying!!! :devil:

Hi i just got rid of my car but I took off the ducting pipe that was linked from the air filter to the bottom of the bumper (just left of the radiator). I need photos of this area of the engine bay and an overall photo of the right hand side of the engine bay. This will help me to send the instructions to the buyer. If this can be put up on this forum I would be thankful.

bitchin! I just did this to my 2.0 20v HLXand I'll be damned, what a noise. I've got a cat back stainless too and this thing now gives old people heart attacks. It definately feels like it pulls smoother through the revs, and the faster you go, the more cold air - terrific.

Hello guys, i have Bravo HGT147 and have made some modifications to the intake system. The first thing i did :

Remove the air box and put cone air filter there(see the attachment)

The second thing - remove the upper resonator box...and here is my question - what is the function of this upper resonator box? I'm adding some attachments with some manuals:

The seconds box is a resenator box, its simply there to reduce the induction noise the engine makes.

mine was removed before i converted to 20vT, i know a few over members here have also removed it

if you fit a cone filter you bypass the resonator box so removing it isnt neccessary, although i would still remove it because unneccessary plastic has no reason to be there.
