Well i have just bought the stobel Magnum which is still a 136db horn for £13.99 from halfrauds.
The Nautilus is 139db and is an air horn, where this one isn't.

Good news is that it fits using the same fitting position as the Fiat horn on the 100hp, Much better sound than the usual 'peep peep' as well.

Sounds more like a mondeo type horn now, just a bit louder, very happy (y)

Gary, you need to understand how the decibel scale works, a three decibel increase is twice as loud!

Okey dokey, it's just the way you said it was "still...136dB" as if that wasn't much different, when, as you know, it's vast.

The note(s) from the nautilus, or the compact one at least, is(are) far nicer than the normal wide boy trumpets.

I've purchased some of the 'wide boy' Fiamm air horns for my panda, however im not lookingforward to removing the front end to get to the horn like big ian has,
i notice there a set of small wires wrapped in some trunking heading to the horn from the front right of the car.

I was wondering if anybody knew which colour the wires that provide the horn with power are, i plan to cut these wires and route the power for use with the new horns.

any info would be apreciated

Sounds like a neat solution - how long did it take to change?

I have a Nautilus (not compact) all wrapped up and ready for xmas and am itching to play with it.

How many have fitted one without a rely, and how many with? I may just stick the relay in anyway to be on the safe side, as my older sei wiring may be a lower rating.

Most importantly, how loud is it?? Enough to make people think twice when you beep it

As it's an air horn, if you just give it a quick parp it doesn't wind up to full volume so you get an acceptable level for that sort of press. If you lean on the button you get the other end of the scale and I've never had a problem with people drifting across lanes since fitting it.

hi
i just bought a "nautilus compact air horn "made in italy" " and then i noticed it wasnt a Stebel, or any brand for that matter. specs seem ok, i hope its not a dodgy one, anyone seen them around? do you believe it will give me any kind of problem on my panda 4x4?:(

Yeah, there is a seller on ebay that sells counterfeit ones. they look very similar, and he uses the name nautilus, but the packaging is wrong and thee are slight differences.

I did report him, but don't know if anything came of it.

KRistian

ok, but will it at least work properly if you know, or will it damage the car's electrical system? i dont want to do anything stupid but then again i paid for it... and he did not use the brand name, i should have been more carefull...:bang:

Mine's a sei, sorry.

Why you need to get into the bumper? you mounting it in the original position?

Kristian

I could mount it without removing the bumper but I'd need to know which wires go to the horn. I suppose the other way is to follow the wires from the fuse box instead of the other way around (which I was thinking of when talking about removing the bumper). I'll have a nosey under the bonnet in the morning :)

 Yo

I had a look at this, this morning, no need to remove the bumper.

Undo the four bumper skin bolts with that are either side of the bonnet catch. Then bend the top of the bumper forward with light pressure, and put your hands in the gap to unplug the existing horn (it's to the left of the bonnet catch as you look down on it).

Expose the wiring loom by the washer filling cap (this t's off, the larger one that goes toward the front of the car has the horn wire in, but you take the wire before/as it t's off) by unwinding some of the black tape that is keeping the loom together. You can then T-off the horn wire (solid purple, there is only one solid purple).

The nautilus compact will fit in front of the engine coolant bottle, remove the bolt holding the coolant bottle in and replace with a long threaded bar that comes up to the top of the bottle. This is needed because the bolt onto the nautilus needs to be on the top. Use a crimp eyelet onto the threaded bar for the ground to the new horn. Put the threaded bar all the way in with a dab of araldite on the end so it has less leverage and has no chance of bending the bracket with the weight of the horn hanging off the other end.

This position has the advantage of being very close to the original horn so no need for a long cable run.

Hope that helps,
Cheers.
