When the aerial is fitted to the roof base unit, we have a knocking or flapping noise from the roof. It's as if something is tied to the aerial and flapping about and hitting the roof.

When the aerial is detached from the roof base unit, we don't get the noise.

It's very strange, any ideas?

Very odd. Does the roof flex if you put pressure on theaerial base? I have damaged an aerial on a car by backing out of the garage and they are not well fitted! Maybe you could try the Fiat accessory short aerial I have these on 3 cars and they work as well as the long original. It reduced the drag and avoids the garage door too.

We have only recently purchased the car. It came with a short aerial. I will try the roof for flex.

Is the base unit a bit loose? Held in place with a nut and stud underneath - if you peel away the tailgate seal at the top you can get under the headlining (possibly loosening the trims at the side for better access).
