Knaus Sunliner A class, Fiat Ducato 2.8 jtd 2002 X230.
ABS light came on intermittently mostly in damp weather but now nearly continuously.
Has anyone had experience of doing a repair.
Do the sensors connect directly to the controller and where is it?
I had a repair done on the rear brakes last year so not sure if this is related.
Are the sensors positioned inside the hubs.
I don't know much about the system so any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible a sensor wiring or connector was disturbed, but with ABS ideally you need a code reader such as MES to point you in the right direction. Alternatively if your garage has a Snap ON Diagnostic tool or similar, it just depends on what they charge.
If you have the correct leads and full version it makes life a lot easier and cheaper in the long run.
I could go into the various things to check , but it depends on the type of sensors etc.
Generally ABS faults are often down to sensors or wiring, next comes ABS rotors which on later vehicles can be on the hub bearing, then less likely is the ABS computer usually found on the ABS pump.

I'm very tempted to blame corroded connectors, wires, or earthing problems. Or low battery volts. Be aware that a suitable diagnostic machine may not connect to the ABS module when tried- if that's the case, then these are the first things to check.

Thanks very much for the information.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
I'm thinking water ingress, corroded connectors etc. I hope I don't have to take it to a garage. Impossible to connect to the ECU so expecting it will be the same with the ABS.
Hopefully if I change the sensors that will sort it.

Although they don't have an EOBD port for diagnostic they should have a basic connector on earlier vans and people like Gendan can probably advise you and supply a tool and leads to suit. You can email them and ask if they have something suitable to read the ABS side.
