I bought used Fiat 500L 1.4 95hp 2013. I want to change gear oil right away as it is not changed yet.
Fiat seems to recommend 75w GL4 oil for 500L 6-speed manual.
Gearbox is probably exactly same as Stilo and Grande 1.4 16V 6-speed and they had 75w-85 or 75w-80 recommended. Or is newer gearbox modified somehow?
Is new recommendation 75w oil only for fuel economy? It is really really thin, like water in room temperature. Is it possible that it shortens gearbox lifetime?
Can I use 75w-80 or 75w-85 and maybe get better protection for wearing?
Or does it have any significance what oil to use as long it is changed often enough, like 60000km/3 years?
