Has anyone here had thier 2024 500e with activated Sirius, in an area outside of cell service? Did your Sirius still work? The reason I ask is I wonder if Sirius in these cars is actually satellite based, or is it perhaps cell-service based. As a “city car” and given that cities generally have complete cell coverage these days, it occurs to me it would be cheaper (for Fiat) to use the cars internal cell system for the signal rather than to also install the satellite antenna.

If it uses cell, it seems the pricing should be in accordance with add-on service via a phone app.

Perhaps, however if money is an issue don't even get involved in it. Cell tower transmission sucks, as opposed to Satellite transmission that will keep going even in a hurricane. I don't even use the nav in my spider, I use my Garmin off of satellite.

Not sure what you mean by “don’t even get involved in it”. My “main” Sirius subscription is in my truck and is satellite-based (necessary given where I go with it). I also have Sirius on my phone which we can use in my wife’s car via CarPlay. The performance of the service in my wife’s car sucks compared to my truck and of course, doesn’t even work when outside of cell service (I’m in Colorado so not uncommon). I have not been anywhere outside of cell range in my new 500e, so I got to wondering……(also haven’t noticed signal drops under bridges like sometimes happens in truck)

Subscriptions, Apple carplay, Android auto, etc. it's the new car ghimick of the 21st century. They don't want the consumer to notice the transmissons and engines are junk so you take the focus off with bull-s--t tech, and it works.
Don't worry about your e getting out of range, you'll never get that far. :)

Ah, very helpful. Thank you (you underestimate me to a very significant extent)
