Hi
Helping a friend who got this car via carvana 4 months ago. Car fax looked good and was maintained it appears. Car has been great. Did the oil change for her.
I bought the liquid moly 0w20 and premium napa oil filter here in Canada. The German liquid moly oil meets the standard requirement mentioned in the manual for the car.
It's been about 1000 miles since oil change and just recently while at the lights. The low oil pressure warning came up as a message on dash. Not the oil light or the check engine light.
I quickly pulled over within 3 seconds, turned it off. Checked the level of oil - perfect.
I checked the oil temperate gauge in the menu system - the bars not filled in ( 3 bars ) top bar would be red but it only filled bottom or bottom and middle. I believe it suppose to read bottom up as bars. I think it was in the middle . It was not a hot day. Engine temperature was as well medium half way up which it always stays at.
No leaks under the car.
I fired it up after 5 mins letting it sit. No message and we went about our day.
Never seen again:
Once home I scanned the computer and no pending codes were found.
It has since been drive 100 miles at highway speeds and no warning.
Thoughts on what next?
1 - can the oil pressure sensor be OHM tested, if so what is the expected reading?
2 - should I really go buy a mopar oil filter and install it?
3 - is there any other parts i should be doing a visual inspection of?
4 - is there a torque spec for the oil pressure sensor if i do replace it?
Clearly the right thing to do is, sensor remove, hook up pressure gauge and check oil pressure at idle.
Anyone know what alldata says for expected OHM resistance and pressures at idle and certain rpm's with engine cold/hot?
THANKS!!!
