I had my airbag module repaired twice by Crashdata and it failed again so this time I bought a new module from Neo Bros on eBay. My brother spent a morning trying to pair it using AlfaOBD software and his OBD dongles with no success. The software seemed to recognise the new module but wouldn't do the proxi align.
I contacted the eBay seller, Neo Bros, for advice. This is their reply:
"The previous units which you have purchased from crash date have been adapted by them so that the units can be easily added to vehicles. As you have purchased a brand new original ‘virgin’ unit from us, this cannot be configured with aftermarket software. This can only be configured with main dealer software. Alternatively, you may be able to have it reconfigured by a mobile air bag specialist however you will need to confirm this with them."
I am guessing that the Fiat main dealer will be expensive so will persevere finding a home fix for now!
I contacted Gendan who are the UK distrbutor of Multiecuscan to ask if their software would do the proxi align and got a quick reply asking if the new ECU had exactly the same part numbe as the old one - which it doesn't. The eBay seller Neo Bros checked my VIN and said their module was compatible This makes me think that I have fallen into a bit of a trap!
Has any other owner bought a so-called compatible airbag module with a different part number and been able to do the proxi align please? If so, can you please share how you managed it?
Many thanks
Brian
