Mine is two lady owners, one a green P plate, shopping trolly duty cycle.

I was commenting on engineering design not materials or build state.

Good luck...

Hmmmm, i wonder if they have been sitting with their foot down on the clutch for long periods stopped in traffic, round supermarket carparks etc. Over a period of time, that tends to be what murders the thrust bearing in particular. Centos meant to be city cars, so i would say they spend more time in those conditions than most, and are more suseptable to clutch problems as a result. especially if the owner "rides" the clutch alot. its not so bad for cars on here as they are properly maintained and used properly.

What ive seen from pattern clutches is their drive plates tend to wear quicker, where as on standard oem parts the bearing 9 times out of 10 goes long before the plates do. alot of cento clutches are replaced purely due to te fact the the clutch isnt that expensive and your in at it anyway to sort the bearing!, so its best to replace the whole lot.

Even though the bearing is a weak link in oem parts, youl probably get more miles out of it if used correctly than most pattern parts used correctly. the point being, even with a flawed design, the oem parts are capable of lasting longer than alot of pattern parts

Probably lots of people have no concept of what is under a bonnet, or what a thrust bearing is.

It was not the thrust bearing or friction plate that failed, it was the diaphram spring that failed.

My problem was the clutch seemed perfect (really light weight slick gear changes) in 2k miles of mixed driving then it squeeked (quietly) while manoeuvering for parking, then ten miles later bang.

If it sticks the same way for you then 1st gear and rock the car back and forwards is effecacious, but then I only got about 2 minutes before it stopped the engine, again.

It would tow or coast ok in neutral...
