General 2.8JTD fuel gauge

The fuel gauge on my 2002 2.8JTD has developed a mind of its own over the past couple of weeks and swings wildly between full and empty no matter how much diesel is in it!

I'm guessing that it is the sender unit gone faulty, but does anyone know how you get at it? There doesn't seem to be any way from underneath the van.

At front of tank(remove underguard)on top,use new gasket/seal.
