Hello all,

I'm new here and having some issues with a motorhome engine.

Firstly a little back ground, my parents ducato based 17 plate motorhome has been having some issues starting back in December. They tried starting it on an icey morning and it wouldn't go flagged up a engine warning. The engine warning as camshaft-crank mis alignment.

Last week I opened up the engine, 3 of the 4 cylinder inlet rockers had smashed. Ordered new ones. Replaced them and re built the engine. Yes I did use the correct locking pins and timing method. Once back together the van started and ran wonderful. Left to run until warm and turned off.

The next morning we came to start the van again and it started but died a few moments later. It hasn't managed to start since.

The fuel pressure is reading a max of 50 Bar on cranking and with a little help from easy start it bumps up to 380 bar and then dies again. I have changed the fuel pressure regulator and the suction control valve on the high pressure pump but to no avail.

I am now not reading any codes on the computer and the low pressure pump is operating as it should.

If anyone can shed some light on this I would be very grateful.

Thank you

If you disturbed the injector internals whilst repairing I suggest a "leak off" test, as if one isn't 100% you can get very low common rail pressure so ECU stops injection. Well worth doing the simple test. Let us know how you get on , to help others.:)

Remove the diesel pipes from the rail to the injectors and close them. Check the pressure on the rail if it reaches 200bar. If yes, the problem is due to the injectors, otherwise it is the high pressure pump. Try replacing the rail pressure sensor.

Just curious , given the very high pressure involved how do you close the diesel pipes?
