Hi all. I'm a newbie to all this. I have a swift Kontiki Motorhome with the Fiat 2.8 diesel engine. No 2 injector is showing faulty. It's had 3 new injectors in no 2 and it's still misfiring. No 1 and 2 injectors swapped over and ECU reconditioned. No 2 injector still showing fault, so it deffo isn't an injector issue. Wiring checks out ok. Ticked over for over an hour and never missed a beat! Started it to drive away from the garage and it immediately misfired and engine management light came on. This has been going on since last August, I'm desperate fir any suggestions now. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

Given the age of the vehicle, the base vehicle will be a x244 model, and the engine will be a 2.3jtd.

I am much more familiar with my own 2.8jtd, but general layout will be similar.

The fact that injector 2 is OK at tickover, but misfires when engine is under load, suggests the possibility that the movement of the engine in its mountings when under load may be exposing a wiring fault that cannot be found when the engine is not running. There were similar wiring problems with the 2.8jtd, due to the injector cables being fractionally too short.

Perhaps member @bugsymike may have a different suggestion.

I confess like @Communicator I am much more at home with the earlier Sofim 2.5 and 2.8 engines, I do recall some mention of injector wiring loom issues and I know on some Iveco daily's the wiring loom corrodes internally.

Apologies, it is actually a 2.8.
If so, then an overtight injector cable could be your problem.

To confirm engine type see VIN plate under bonnet over radiator. The plate should include MOTORE 8140.43s. The "s" denotes JTD.
Also VIN should commence ZFA244xxxxxxxx.

If you search either this forum, or internet, for "2.8jtd injector cable fault", you should get several hits, with No. 2 cylinder being mentioned.

Attached is a photo of a 2.8jtd (not mine) with the air hoses across the front, and the engine cover removed. Injector 2, is arrowed in red, and the injector cable clamps are arrowed in yellow. I managed to gain perhaps 2mm of extra cable at the injectors by slightly loosening the clamps arrowed in yellow, and working the cables towards the engine.

Thank you everyone. I'm passing this info on to my garage. If anything works, I'll let you know.
