Try disconnecting the Mass air flow sensor - its a sensor that on the inlet / induction side - usually just after the air filter itself

THIS WILL PUT THE ENGINE LIGHT ON

but this should go back off once you reconnect it and do a few drive cycles

IF the suddenly seems alot better with it disconnected, i'd be mostly confident it'd cure the issue

Hi,
it changes the camshaft timing - so will be on the end of the camshaft (HEAD)

basically the same as the Alfa "twinspark" - Google it..!!

variator changes normally require specialist "locking" tools:eek:

does it "clatter" when you start it from cold..??, that was a sign on the Alfa of variator wear..

Variator Solenoid will this be an issue with the engine? now if I accelerate, nothing then it picks up but still lacks a lot of power. My 1.1 106 had more power than this car I'm so very disappointed in this 1747cc HGT considering it should have 130BHP......
