General 1.3 MJ whine

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a while as I have been looking out for a good second-hand 500 for a while, and today I bought one so I thought I should get signed up! It's a 2008 1.3 MJ Sport with 24k on the clock and the following options:

* 15" 9 U-spokes
* Fixed glass roof
* Chrome kit inc. mirrors
* Rear head rests

This is only 1 of 2 500's I looked at before buying. The other one I saw had full black leather, automatic climate control and the 16" 5 O-spokes but it didn't seem as well looked after, and I thought the cars acceleration and comfort suffered as a result of the 16's so I went back and bought the first one I saw

Now that’s out the way, I have a small issue. With the ignition on, whether it be driving or stationary can hear a faint whining noise coming from behind me (in the rear of the car). I've not had a chance to properly check where it's coming from, but I thought I would ask if anyone has experienced similar before I start hunting for the problem.

Very helpful, thanks! I've got 2 months warranty from the dealer I bought it from so hopefully they will replace it FOC.

I doubt it's faulty if it's only a faint noise.

I dunno, it's directly under the seat so it must be whining quite a bit to be audible.
