Surely that will increase drag and slow your car down more than it will speed it up?

That is indeed a very high-tech block of wood! Its been removed now as Ive reshaped the bracket to allow it to hold shorter battery.
Bracket has also been painted and a DIY oil catch tank installed, just havent got a descent picture of it due to it raining alot!

your engine bays look so good painted,have you just painted stuff with a brush or removed it ?

Mine is just painted with a brush, a quick clean up and rub over with sanding block is all that I done. Then slap the paint on with a brush, just use some card around the edges so you dont get a load of runs...
The paint i used was normal Hammerite direct to rust.

You have trouble removing the original intake too? the screw is a mofo
oh yeah, forgot about that... the intake has gone too. took it out when i fitted my angel eye headights. didnt have any problems removing it tbh.
