Panda (Classic) Mk1 Progress

Introduction

Well I have been accused of being a bit quite. The old mk1 is coming on, although still sort of ugly.

So far she has had…

1) New suspension on the front, (bushes and ball joints all over)
2) New break pipes (copper and rubber0
3) New carb
4) Nice new break master cylinder (thanks whoever let Alan have it to pass onto me)
5) A new re-trim. Door cards where there were none and some nice new seat covers. (Sarah has been busy)

Pictures say a thousand words so have a squint through these.
Well the sun shone again today and whilst I'm at home today we had chance to do a bit more.

Two front wheels had their rubber removed and I hit them hard with a wire brush on the drill. Because of the warm day it took ages to paint them up (very short working time on the paint) with the clear coat on they don't look half bad.

I wasn't going for perfect, but the finished version looks much more presentabel than the start. new tyres fitted tomorrow then the rears get the same treatment.

Sarah also pushed on with the back seat. Its nearly there. So Sunday should see it in the car.

Some more pics...

Mmmm. erm....not sure about concourse.

But....It is a Mk1. It looks to be a rare thing & I have space to store it undercover with the 325 touring. And I did have a chat with these people today, http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/

As there isn't much in these to start with, rebuilding it back to as new status wouldn't take too much effort once a full painted shell came back and nuts and bolts wise on stuff that wears out she is already all new. (Well, when the stickers come off they will mess up the paint :) )

But yes, I'm thinking about it.

sorry bit late in on this but like everyones said those seats are fantastic!!! regretting gettin rid of the mk1 now :( mind you ours was pretty much beyond repair! Fantastic looking car now you have tho! :D (y)

Well the early part of the day went well, the seats are all done and in the car now. Just a few new trim clips needed to hand the rear side panels properly and to make up the tailgate panel.

Bad part of the day was coming back from Leicester after getting the trim clips. The Galaxy's gearbox just died. :( so all play will stop for a while now whilst I get that sorted.

Anyhow, a few more pics...

someone's gotta give Gucci a call for sponsership... that would be so cool :) and unlikely ever to happen ever... ever ever.

Well today the Galaxy gearbox went back together again ok. So Panda play resumed. :)

The bumpers came off for a clean and respray and the girls had to get some promo shots done for the sponsors.

Just the cursed hedalight clip to source so the bulb is retained properly and then its MOT time.

Guys I need a little help. The only thing standing in the way of an MOT is the headlamp bulb retaining clip. Can I find anyone selling one.....can I bugger.

The attached pics are the bit of bent metal I need.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

Cheers. I need to get the ticket before the 1st July. It has a lot to do then. Lots of local press types and some Promo stuff for a video short & only having one day a week to work on it means time is tight.
