Introduction

Thought i would show a little update of the mondeo as i have been quite busy with it.

Here she is when i bought her ( not :yuck: but more  )

Things i have done to the outside include : -

16'' ST24 alloys wrapped in 205/50/16 rubber

I have fitted an ST24 grille to replace the standard one so BEFORE

After

Taking a page from the stilo massive for the boot plinth Using Mondeo MK3 badges ;)

Under the bonnet i have fitted a BOMZ (our equivalent to GSR etc) induction kit and a 2.0 TB so sounds and goes like stink early in the rev range!

Inside i have done the most changes. This was the interior before

This is it now

I have fitted

ST 24 dash
ST24 heater control panels and headlight panels
Lockwood dials (shine blue at night)
Some of switches converted so they shine blue at night rather than the ford green (will take night photo later :))
ST24 Gearknob

I currently have waiting to be fitted some bonnet lifters and some engine bling. On the mondeo forum we have a guy who fabricates engine part coverings out of chrome metal which you put over the top of some parts e.g slam panel, battery, strut tops to name a few parts. This just makes it a bit more showy.

Nowhere near finished also

I would also like to add that the only new items were the dials and the induction kit. Everything else is second hand :)

Comments, opinions and grumbles welcome (y) Give me credit for trying to turn a bit of a bland car into something different :D
You've done some decent mods, although im not keen on the -M-O-N-D-E-O- Grill looks loads better though (y)

I know its a minor thing but changing the numberplates to the new style and sticking them on rather that rusty bolts makes a difference :) I'd do that next.

200% improvement (y)

the grill being the largest improvement i think! looked a bit stark before but now, much better. also makes it look W-I-D-E-R

interior, its std ford play, you can swap and change panels and that from almost any model you like. my mates ka is anything but std, I think the only thing original is the shell and erm erm, no seriously, probably just the shell and a few suspension componants :slayer:

the mondeo bit on the back looks neat and ertainly original apart from th tiny overhang on the M and O, maybe just the angle tough

WRP - Ive been thinking about the numberplates as well but those bolts are rusted in well, will need to get a lot of wd40 on those to release them

Faster - The angle does it no favours, nor does still having the original factory badges on  (need to debadge) but it is fairly straight and the gap between the letters are inch perfect

A lot of MK2 to MK2 parts are interchangeable yes but the only panels that are the same as the MK1 is only the roof and the doors, everything else is different so not as straightforward swap as you would think,

No mine is a mk2. There were no phases on the mk2 only on the mk3.

However the engines did change from silvertop (early zetec/duroteq) to blacktop (zetec) in 1998

But yes a lot of parts are interchangeable on mk2 hence why ive got a load of st24 bits

i was always a fan of them mondeo's., id still love to have an ST24 now., it looks good alround but the one thing im not into is that mondeo lettering on the boot.,

If anyone is remotely considering an ST (MK3) or ST24/220 (MK2) get one now as these will be sought after and will only go up in value seen as though there is no 'hot' one due out on the MK4 new shape.

UPDATE - won some chrome interior door handles which are off the higher spec models off ebay last night so they will be going on.

Need to locate a washer so can fit my bonnet lifters and get some of the blue LEDS fixed as some have blown!

I actually prefer the black grill and black dashboard  Then again, I was brought up on 1970's/ 80's cars that resembled black plastic dungeons inside and were covered in black plastic on the outside :p (That's not entirely true, a lot of 70's cars including my mk1 Vauxhall Cavalier had chrome bumpers and trim ;) )

Those ST24 wheels look a bit like Fiat Coupe wheels?

Very similar in looks but can assure you these arent coop wheels with a ford badge in the middle these are the genuine article.

Maybe both ford and fiat had at the time had some sort of agreement between the rim manufacturer to provide both models?

Thats if they are the same

i'd definately get the full ST24 kit, and pull those letters off the back you daft bugger.

i wanted an ST24 but my GF said its a pedo car

Problem with the ST24 kit is everyones going that route, they are fetching good money, and if they are cheap they are damaged.

Think i have abandoned the st24 look for now.

No updates atm just a bit of engine bling but nothing to get excited about

Mondidlo passed MOT this morning! :slayer::worship: 4 advisories though :(

2 for rear tyres

brake pipes slightly corroded

front ARB bushes worn but not giving any excessive play

A few bob to sort out prior to MOT but shes done and dusted for now

Well the time has come for me and the mondidlo to part ways

I have enjoyed her, but winter has hit her hard and she is starting to show a bit of age in places :(

De-modding begins now before i put 6 months tax on her at end of month (due) and then she will be off to pastures new (n)

Slight downsize to a focus me thinks :)
