With the good weather this weekend the top (from 9 -3 oclock positions) leather on my steering wheel has all blistered and bubbled up from being in the sun. is this a known issue? warranty?

This has happened to adam i think, cant remember if he said they would do it under warranty though 
Not to do with the sun, but mines all wrinkled and gone funny where i hold it

I don't think the sun has to do with it.Mine sits in the sun for hours sometimes and it gets really hot over here ( 40 Celsius) and nothing is wrong with it.
do you wear a ring on that hand?
If your referring to my post nope i dont, i just assumed its where your hand gets hot holding the wheel, which is half the reason why i havent taken it up with Fiat as i guessed they'd just put it down to a "wear & tear" issue

If its over a year old then good luck! Your looking at about £250-300 to get a wheel retrimmed by a pro.
my steering wheel was red hot yesterday, i havent noticed if the leather is knackered though. Will go out and check soon!!!

Its not where i hold it and its directly to do with the sun, its exactly where the sun has been hitting it.

if it bothers you that much there is one on ebay at the moment for £45. expect that to go up though. i paid £71 for mine inc postage.

I bought a leather wheel for my Bravo and it was badly scuffed on the back I used black shoe leather restorer from wilkinsons for 99p and It looks like new now. Maybe some leather cream would stop the sun wreking it

good plan! i have some auto glym leather cream, might fix it, looks like dot cottons face at the moment.

Why the inverted commas? £250 is reasonable. Wheels are a ballache to trim so about £175 of that is labour cost. Your right its not a ferrari if it was you would be looking at alot more than that.

Yep, mines done the same, and its getting a lot worse. Fiat called it normal wear.....

Even a top or t-shirt... i always do if i have to leave my car out in the sun so the steering wheels not boiling. :idea:

Just meaning i would never spend that kind of money (e.g. a holiday) on getting my wheel retrimmed. id sooner just buy an aftermarket one or just live with the fact its blistered.

shouldn't have to really, the car should be designed for a bit of sun, I mean, its Scotland not Dubai.

You can go on holiday for £300? If you go aftermarket then your easily breaking into the £300 once you factor in everything you need to get it fitted properly.
I have always treated mine to a leather cream every month or so. its still like new!
