Urgent help needed, I have a 2008 Ducato maxi 160 3.0l with a periodic starting problem, it turns over but will not fire, there are no fault codes on the diagnostics and has been in a fiat dealer for the past three weeks on and off, some days it will start some not, it may start try 10mins later no start it is driving me mad anyone have any idea’s, the dealer has offered to replace all parts at a cost of 4k at my expense and then cannot guarantee a fix

Hi
You might want to check a previous post with someone who has had a similar problem with their 07 160 multijet which could be related to your problem -
https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/226940-07-ducato-160-multijet-wont-start.html
From the Fiat UK press release I read on one of the motorhome forum sites, Fiat seems to think that rain water etc pouring from the "scuttle problem" on the X250 models all over the engine & electrical components etc is perfectly OK & that all components are tested & meet "their" standards for water immersion!!
Judging from the above link & post -
Quote "while working on the van in the rain i was surprised to see how much water was getting into the engine bay and on top of the engine, water was coming through the black plastic panel below the windscreen, seems like the fuse box is in a very damp area."
It seems that corroded fuse boxes can be added to the following resulting problems - the 2.3ltr models timing belts jumping due to water freezing in the timing belt housing, "rusted in" injectors & glow plugs & water in the throttle body motors all relating back to the water ingress from the faulty windscreen scuttle.
It seems with the X250 models to ensure ongoing reliability, the number one priority (after Fiats half-hearted attempt) would be finding some way of preventing the ingress of water into the engine bay from the scuttle to prevent this corrosion of the engine & electrical components happening.
