during washing the car tonight, i noticed that paint was coming off my alloys in big chunks, and there is alot of corrosion in unnoticable areas, mostly on the back. just wondering if other people have this problem, i have the 17 inch sporty design alloys, anthrecite and diamond cut, 15 spokes.

wondering if its just a one off and get new ones, or common and i will have to refurb them, till i can get 18's.

Yeah I think mine are the 15 spokes they have never been curbed yet look like they have been driven around on the curb.

I have the standard 16"s and noticed just the other day bits of the paint flaking and some bubbles under the surface, seems a bit odd as the car is only 4yrs old, would have expected them to last a bit longer

I have these wheels if I wash the car at the weekend I'll take a photo.

corrosion due to road salt and/or acid wheel cleaner

best bet is a refurb, if they are too far gone to keep 'polished' strip and powdercoat

or buy a replacement set on ebay for less money than the cost to refurb

I have those same 13 spoke 17" wheels, over 4 years now and no noticeable damage or corosion.

It never snows here so your problem is probably due to road salt and you can't refurbish them perfectly, you'll lose their shiny finish.

Edit: actually those wheels exist in two different finishes, the diamond cut finish and normal paint finish. The newer bravos come with the cheaper normal paint finish and those are easy to refurbish.

I only use Bilberry wheel cleaner - it is excellent and acid free. The alloys were peeling when I got it but I hadn't noticed when I first bought it.

I have been quoted £60-70 for a full powder coat refurb which I thought was ok.

Haven't seen any 18'' sets on ebay :(

I was £180 for a full set of 16's powdercoated. Shop around, you'll be able to save a bit id guess

My 16 inch alloys are starting to bubble quite a lot, wouldnt they be covered under the paint/corrosion warranty? I clean them weekly, as well as the whole car, so they cant question if i look after it as it is generally very clean.
