Aye, had the same sort of feelings about the Ibiza. it was NIL to tax whereas the Scala is £180 and will be more next year I think?Although after just taxing the Scudo for six months costing over £200 against the C3s £35 per year???

Welcome to our World , we have had rain most days since last year and being where I am we haven't seen it land as the pretty white stuff that kids love. All this talk of batteries reminds me that I should hook the charger up to the DeSoto before I turn the key and push the starter button.
I got the okay yesterday to "Ride anything with a minimum of three wheels" and that it was up to me to attempt driving with a clutch. In order to move the DeSoto out of the garage(clutch with a heavy spring), I need to move the Jeep(juice clutch). It's supposed to hammer down rain today, so I don't think I'll bother.
The local 24hr ‘mega’ Asda turned over its carpark to a ‘public amenity’ and the police/traffic wardens issued warning notices for a month before the pilot, result was a lot less folk misusing spaces…don’t know whether the pilot progressed more than the year, but the official oversight stopped all the ‘street racer’ meets as wellParent and child spaces must have been full...which are even more fun as they have no legal backing at all. As a result it's parent and child + any bugger who can't dock in a standard space.
"Parking spaces are too small now! I need to use a big space" just perhaps buy a vehicle that fits in a space and then the problem might be solved..they only sell them because you're enough of a mug to buy one at a premium over a normal car.
Etc etc etc rarara *noises including a soap box being launched through a window*
No definitely not in my case. I know.... that she meant, exactly what I wanted to think she meant! Loaded compliments will do me.. Its like when I say Pandas are very fast. Now this is a loaded compliment for the ages.
Up there with "your level of intelligence is unbelievable" for threads you don't want to pull.
Microwaves good for porrige and scrambled eggs. Mrs PN makes near instant sponge puds that come out well. I agree that reheated stuff is usually awful and though baked spuds cook they can also be horrid and need a proper oven. Ours mostly makes custard and cheese sauceI only like them from the oven, I hate microwave soggy damp food, never have one in my house.
When they first came out takeaways used to do burgers in them and pasties that were cold in the middle even though they came up with the story that they cooked from the inside out. I once went to a pub and had a chicken in the basket that still had ice in the middle!
That's my rant for today.
Actually it isn't thinking about it, several weeks ago I had an endoscopy, as a result my GP was meant to proscribe some meds, plus give me the results of the biopsy and bloods etc. After repeated calls getting no where finally I was told the prescription was with their pharmacy and as there was no problem with the bloods they didn't bother to contact me and that if I wanted to know about the biopsy I could have an appointment by phone in June, a few days prior to the next endoscophttps://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php?viewkey=ph632c32fa34220N mak y needed to see if the meds had helped, which I have only now been given the chance to take!!!
Sadly the GPs of my youth are long gone. It's no good being told what a wonderful job they do , if you can't actually see one.
Mind you, isn't there a saying as you get older "never trust a fart" As in "is that porridge in my pants?I was walking back to the house from the garage this afternoon and lunch had been talking back to me for quite a while. Just about to the front step and I let loose with a relieving old phart Fart. Unbeknownst to me, my neighbor from across the street was standing at his mailbox and was able to hear the entire concert.
"Jay-sus, Mike. I suppose you're proud of that."
"Damn right I am. When you get to be my age, you will be too. If you think your kids are embarrassed by you now, just think how much more fun it will be in 20 more years."
A very real problem for us "Old Pharts"! Mrs J produced a wonderful Mexican 3 bean soup for our meal last night, Paying for it this morning though!Mind you, isn't there a saying as you get older "never trust a fart" As in "is that porridge in my pants?

Normally, yes. But this was the result of a Portillio's hot dog lunch. The 'exhausting' is part of the 'experience'.Mind you, isn't there a saying as you get older "never trust a fart" As in "is that porridge in my pants?
Just been amusing myself by rereading the "Wet Belt" feature article (page 44 in this month's, May '24, Car Mechanics) which features the woes you can expect if buying a car with either the Ecoboost or Puretech "wet belt" engines. It's all about the problems with these "run in oil" type belts - problems most of us enthusiasts will be well aware of but even so I learned from reading the article. It's followed by 3 pages of letters reproduced from letters sent to the magazine from people who have "suffered"! All very informative stuff and strongly recommended reading for folk. like us, who are interested in such things.
They both moved to wet belts, then had similar issues. It annoys me somewhat that the Puretech gets lumped in with the ecoboost
You make a lot of good points there and I'd maybe buy a Puretech whereas I'd never consider the Ecoboost. I think the belt manufacturers have been working on materials too to reduce this problem? Can't help feeling it's not worth it for the marginal reduction in noise and betterment of fuel consumption from reduction in frictional losses? We're talking about wet belts here but, of course, these aren't the only engines to suffer from camshaft drive component problems. Modern timing chains, with their long runs necessitated by OHC designs, suffer too. Regular oil changes and using the exact right oil makes a big difference here too.It comes down to 3 things..stretch the service intervals and belt change interval at your peril and don't use the wrong oil.
If you don't do these things the chances of having an issue are vanishingly small. If you do as most irate letter writers have done...well there's your bed you can lie in it now. Obviously if the previous owner did these things...oh dear oh dear but "due diligence" n that.
It annoys me somewhat that the Puretech gets lumped in with the ecoboost in that the ecoboost is a genuine nightmare because not only is it a pain in the arse with more than just the wet belt to deal with..it's an absolute pain in the arse to work on with a timing belt change taking 3x as long unless you take the engine out of the car. While the Puretech is about a 5 hour job with no requirements for special tools.
A friend of mine via CCCUK runs a puretech help page..he despairs. Mainly as 98% of the traffic is my oil pressure is low and the belt looks like the surface of the moon, can I stretch the change interval until payday/next year/put a piece of gaffer over the oil light?
There's the odd genuine component failure but the vast majority is people hammering them into the ground and then complaining about the inevitable consequences.
Oh and my Smile for the day, Amazon. "You've just bought an expensive pair of walking shoes, we think you'd like another".
Absolute confidence in what you've sold there

It's all the same issue of taking some design that has worked well for 50+ year and changing for no good reason that most people can see.
I don't do anything like the walking you do and most of mine is around pavements and rough cinder tracks but I've been buying Mountain Warehouse brand for many years and find they do well. I've just bought a new pair of my favourites:

I usually buy the plain grey ones but this time I splashed out on a bit of colour!
