North East Truck & Van York - stick or twist? Fiat Ducato 130, x290, 2015, 24500 miles, EML codes .. P2452-11 & P2454-29 dropped off at above place this week, Monday 22nd, they called shortly after "we can clear the errors and you can pick it up as nothing wrong with it"!, fine i'll pick it up in the morning (Tuesday) They called Tuesday morning (Yesterday) "leave the van with us as the eml light is back on". I called this afternoon for update, they said "they havn't yet found an answer, but our top technician has so far spent 4 hrs @ £130ph on it. They have no answers but will continue to search". does anyone know any other garages who could help at lower hourly rate. the bill is increasing as we speak and i'm wondering what to do, as anyone else experienced this with the above garage? Many thanks.

Both those error codes relate to the Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor.

On older Fiats (and other makes) the simple Pnnnn is a basic indicator of the component/type of fault. Later Fiats now have suffix codes e.g. Pnnnn-xx

The xx helps expand what could be wrong. e.g. signal too high, too low, no signal, short to earth, ......

If the garage can't understand the xx suffix then they need to look for bad sensor, bad connectors, bad/broken chaffed wires, cable to short/pulling, etc. NOTE ALSO the DPF filter itself could be faulty/clogged causing the sensor to have a very high signal. Same goes for a DPF leak or broken hoses from the DPF (before and after) to the sensor module.

One trick that can sometimes help is to deliberately cause a fault, e.g. unplug something. Often a fault code/EML will happen immediately and the code can be read and the suffix xx related to what you did. If the two xx codes match then this can be a good clue.

Picked the van up yesterday, this is their report, may help someone - "Found active faults for DPF pressure sensor self compensation. Support vehicle & check wiring/pipework to pressure sensor, found sensor pipe not tightened. Start vehicle & check sensor signal, found to be erratic. Remove DPF sensor & check for water in sensor, none found. Check pins in sensor to multiplug for corrossion, small amountin plug. Remove pins & clean out, adjust pins back into postion. Refit sensor & test to find signal still erratic. Trace loom back from sensor & check wiring to find wires rubbed through each other where loom secured to body. Repair wires & relocate in body, refit sensor. Clear faults & road test, try many times to confirm working correctly."
