General Newbie considering a brand new Ducato Camper

Different engine trays are fitted depending on the market, maybe they are a good idea for places with a lot of unsealed roads ? One other reason I saw put forward was that some mainland european countries have a drive-by noise test and the trays reduce external noise (a little) and help the test to be passed. I doubt if it would make any noticable difference to the noise level in the cab.

Thanks all. I consulted some people IRL and checked underneath a few Ducato's around (for which I'm sure I got some funny looks) and it seems like it's normal for the cover to be missing, so I'll leave it as it is for now.
