Hi guys.

I have a Panda 1.2 petrol from 2009 and without any warning the engine would not start.

I had the car suspended on jacks to take all 4 wheels off, and when I put these back, the car started for less than 2 seconds, then cut off instantly.

Could this be related, or just pure coincidence

There is no power going from the coils to the spark plugs.

Checked the coils and crank shaft sensors and not from there.

Visually inspected the wires, and it all seems ok.

Checked the pins on the ECU connectors and they are all OK.

Checked the fuel cut-off switch under the seat.

Also, the time resets to 0 when I try to start it.

Attached is a picture with the codes that keep reappearing after ODB delete.

The last thing I could think of is the ECU. Is there a way of checking this?

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Yes, I have cleaned up the connectors and it cranks up and turn the engine fast, just like a new battery.

Checked the earthstrap too.

I can hear the fuel pump going when ignition is switched on.

I have also checked the fuel inertia switch button and it is all good.

fuel pump make a sound
inertia switch is fine
.let's move on

post a video of the dash as you switch the ignition on wait for the lights to go out, crank the engine for a couple of seconds

Here is a video from yesterday.
By now the battery is a bit worn out as I've been trying to start it for the past 4 days. However, it used to spin much faster.

You will have to recharge the battery before we do anymore testing

Do you have mulimeter

In the scan tool graph the battery voltage

Body computer is seeing less than 8.5V

That either the ground has gone up or the volts have gone dow

Everything so far is pointing to the battery or it's connection

I will charge it and run another video.

I have a multimeter.

Thank you your support is very much appreciated!

At this stage the engine is cranking the fuel gauge is still reading but the oil and battery lights have gone out

Which isn't correct

Clean the top of the battery negative post one test probe here

Clean a spot on the aluminium valve cover and other test probe here

Put the multimeter on DC volts around 20V if it's not auto ranging

Measure while Cranking the engine, measure with two people

Report back the voltage

I didn't get home in time to get someone to help me, so couldn't do the measurements.
Will jump on it tomorrow.

I have charged the battery and run another video.

You can skip the measurements

That last video tells us quite a lot

The block ground is probably okay the battery, oil, immobilizer and engine lights are as they should

Supply to the body computer (BSI) now remains over 8.5V

ECU, BSI, dash and immobilizer are probably fine the key CODE is read and the light goes out on the dash

The crank sensor is working, rev counter moving

The inertia switch is fine, pumps priming

petrol in the car, fuel gauge moves

The electric power steering (EPS) fails it's self test

Has the EPS been failing before ?

The error codes help to point in a direction all injectors and coils share the same power supply,

We know the relay working as it is also shared with the fuel pump, green on the diagram below

I would check the red line as it powers all of the 5 items that failed

F17 is as good a place as any

It's in the black fuse box under the bonnet near the battery

The picture of the box is upside down second one down on the right hand side 10A

Check it's not popped out slightly first, then check with the meter it's resistance if it looks okay, check the legs for corrosion and the connectors in the fusebox

Try not to touch too much at a time, if it starts to work, because it was intermittent, it best to know the last place touched

Thank you Koalar.

Not aware of previous issues with the EPS.

I will jump on it as soon as I will get home after work.

Hallelujah!!!

It started!!!!

Thank you very very much!

I am not sure which wire it was, but it was something behind the fuse box.

There was power going at the F17 fuse...

I tried to move the wires around to find out which one it was but it didn't cut out anymore.
I wasn't complaining though :)

Once again, thank you very much for all your help.
