General cinquecento trofeo project

cheers for the info guys but its hardly and average build for what else ive seen on the forum lol.
only saying what i was told by previous owner about it being quicker than any 1242 he came across,
he said he was a regular clubcento member and every time he went to stanford hall his cinq was the quickest 8valver there.every race to and from the venue he won by miles??ive only his word on this ?
as soon as i fit it next week il see if its as quick as my current 1242,but tbh i think the 1242 (upgrade is hardly noticable anyhow)lol.
i am looking into buying a piper pulley for the cam but il see what the dyno comes up with first.

nah todger 182 there isnt issues regarding this engine running wise .i saw it running before it was removed and it sounded very good indeed, the guy was running it on standard manifolds too and he still said it was ballistic.he told me MA engineering skimmed it well beyond markers then fitted a race spresso head gasket (over £100 worth).
his mate had a dyno confirmed 87bhp 1242 cinq and he just couldnt match this 1108 so will be interesting on the dyno lol

Is this an 1108?

Do you expect over 100bhp from this?

What Ecu you running to make use of this "high flow injector with matching fuel relay" and "2 new high volt coils"?

What is a matching fuel relay? What does that mean?

As for race plugs? Is it because race engine?

Thans
Ming

I've had a damn quick 1.2 8v conversion, gave an elise a run for it's money up to 60mph, aswell as an EP3 Type R who was seriously trying to pass me. Killed my alternator belt again the Elise :bang:.

Both in the same day ironically.

That was rollered at 88bhp at the wheels, can't remember the torque but I can find the sheet out if need be.

I still class this as an average engine build for obvious reasons.

I'm not trying to prove who has the bigger *****, but facts are different to "he said/she said".

If I was to sell a performance purpose built engine, I would be providing dyno sheets, gas flow results, receipts for parts, and anything else that can prove what is inside.

Thanks

no ming im expecting a realistic 95bhp,im sick of folk saying yeah my 1108 does 110bhp with a crich chip and a very mild fiat 866 cam, lol utter utter bull****.he gave me a box full of high flow spi injectors to match throttle body(unknown origin but they fit),he also gave me a relay that looks nothing like the standard one i have atm to match the injector(came from same car he said).
all i know is ive paperwork from a company called M A ENGINEERING who built complete engine from scratch, they specialised in just tuning RACE engines.
this engines had over £1000 spent on it and that was just the mechanical side and not inc the injection.
ive seen these 1108s in single seater race cars with mild tuning and using a weber dcoe with 1 port blanked off and still getting over 90bhp lol.
bit strange that all the negative comments come from guys who now run 16v lumps.....hmmmm lol
btw i have to ecus to choose from 1 has a crich 1 has a gazza chip,il play around to see whats best.

btw before i get attacked regarding my 16v comment i know 16v is miles better and i have fitted one no probs but...
a 16v lump will look stupid in my authentic trofeo ,hence ive to stick to lovely 8v lol

I'm not slamming on the 8v engines. Quite the opposite.

I've ran both, had a miserable experience with the 8v. Only lasted about 1500 miles of abuse and service before the bores outgrew it's inhabiting pistons. I had a better reliable experience with an almost standard 1.2 16v, nothing but crap with my entirely custom 1.4 (I can barely call it a 1.4 anymore) 16v. I haven't even finished building the engine yet :bang:.

I know of only 1 1108 engine that is making 100BHP at the wheels, and that was a modified original trofeo chassis. The mods list was pretty big.

298 cam
Custom vernier pulley
KV85 Ignition leads
34mm Throttlebody
High compression CPS pistons
Custom conrods
MPI injector conversion (can't remember which CC's hes using, as he's tried quite a few now)
Chopped up and rewelded MPI inlet manifold
Lightened fly
Lightened alternator pulley
Lightened crank pulley
Edged and balance crank
Custom CSC 4-2-1 manifold
Throttlebody mounted filter.

Can't remember the ECU he's using, may still be the original trofeo one.

It isn't slow, and quite impressive for a 1108 8v.

Thanks

Well todger 182 ur mates build is identical to mine besides hes mpi and im spi.so i wont be too far behind his power output.
Engine is going in this weekend
Cant wait hehe

Thx charlie btw ive a 3 sided gazebo to put cinq into this weekend

lol il try mate but the weather isnt looking good for this weekend

Well todger 182 ur mates build is identical to mine besides hes mpi and im spi.so i wont be too far behind his power output.

it's not identical at all! The custom inlet, piston and i can take a good guess at decent head work done on a bench will have a massive effect, along with the cam, pulley and ECU

Tb mounted filters may not be the best for cold air, but there was a RR print out to show they produce the power at high revs

ive just fitted (today lol) a high spec 1108 8v unit
1108 block with non FIRE crank(we are unsure of origins but most likely a race item.revs to 7k + easy built by MA engineering
fully skimmed head well beyond markers
spresso race head gasket running high compression
lightned flywheel (4.7kg),we had to re drill holes to fit race crank
fully gasflowed/ported and polished cyl head
3 angle valve seats
columbo and bariani 280s 10.3mm max road cam
fully gasflowed and port matched inlet manifold
40mm tricker throttle body
high flow injector(vauxhall astra spi with matching fuelpump/injector relay
stainless 421 exhaust manifold, decat and full stainless janspeed system
carbon mbc cda induction kit
magnacor kv85 leads and bosch super 4 plugs
crich ecu box and also have gazza ecu box to try
rolling road session coming very soon but must be close to 90 /95bhp at least

besides the piper cam pulley and mpi its the same as far as i can see mate sorry, everything else is identical to what i have atm ,the mpi only gives a small increase in power anyhow,it helps the lean fueling/hot cyl prob on cyl 1 and 4 that can effect the spi system but thats about it

I did say that his engine is running forged internals.... Right? :D

Custom high comression pistons (12.1 ratio I think), standard ratio is 9.6. Forged connecting rods to go with.

0-60 is timed at 7.5 seconds, and 100hp at the wheels.

The swap to MPI was for many reasons, SPI couldn't handle that amount of power without cooking a gasket or leaning out rather badly. He went through several sets of injectors to get the fueling just right.

The standard manifold was very restrictive, solution was to cut it open, remove the restrctions and tig weld back together. A tweaked "normal" sized throttlebody mean't he could get the power where he wanted it, rather than waiting for the air to catch up.

The pulley was a custom item, not sure what was so different about it to the other main tuner variations.

Driveability is useless for anything other than racing. But with it being an original trofeo chassis, it's more of a collectors item now.

Thanks

sigh...... as i JUST said mine also has a race crank,so only difference is pulley and mpi??? on the road i reckon there wouldnt be much in it tbh
