Punto (Mk1) Molly II - Punto GT3.

Introduction

Well sure many of you know this car or at least saw it for sale.

Purchased from Alex22 at the weekend to add to my collection. She is standard bar aftermarket discs & pads and a baileys dump valve. Even has an original GT exhaust, think its the first one i ever seen lol.

Whats my plans I hear you ask?
1. Fit correct widemouth front bumper (supplied by Alex with the car)
2. Have wheels refurbed, they look ok but quite a bit of kerbing on the rims
3. Fit some spacers, love the standard wheels but they far to far under the arches
4. Clean and tidy up the engine bay
5. Exterior respray in the original colour, paint is good and there is hardly any dents/dinks but the bonnet and roof in particular look a bit tired.
6. Brand new badges, front and rear

Here is some pictures, all off my phone so not great - I will add more pictures to the thread when i have better ones ;)

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

I always wanted a GT3 in this colour. I had a '98 Sporting in the same colour but it got written off two months after I bought it. Loved that car but it was taken from me

I'd still have one now as a project car if I had space to keep one.

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Lol, i don't really have the space but i wanted it.. See my signature... they all have to fit on my drive outside my very normal sized 2 up 2 down house. I will have to start keeping cars in the back garden soon lol

What does DTP stand for? I knew a guy nicknamed DTP once....

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

I had to go put the SL on my uncles drive so i could get Molly on the drive... Also collected his CLK from the bodyshop last night which i had to take all the way to other side of town to my dad's house as now my drive and my uncles are full lol. God knows what i'm gonna do with Milo the Stilo when she gets back from Scotland

Think i'm gonna pull down some of the hedge at the front of my house you you can pull cars straight on, should free up some space and make taking a different car out much much easier!

When I first opened my account in 2007 I had my own wedding photography business and I traded under David Tillyer Photography hence DTP. I stopped trading in 2009 after the recession hit. I just couldn't get the business for the prices I needed to charge to make a profit. I wish I could change my account name but I've had it too long now to change it.

Thats one of my cats, he's called Johnny Cash, the cat in black ;)

Yeah, she's pretty damn clean - no not keen on the abarth kit tbh, like the skirts but will just make it less original, and keeping her original is the plan - there is no way this car will ever get chavved ;)

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Ah love me cats, i have 3 atm..
I just had to buy it, its so rare to see a original one i couldn't help myself.. Noticed it gets loadsa looks from people when i'm driving it - much more looks than most standard cars get. Just goes to show that it was always a good looking little car. It really reminds me of the sei turbo tbh but a bit bigger, quieter and prob a bit faster. Although i think many of the turbo cinqs/sei's on here would blow it away tbh, my old cinq certainly would have.
A saw a couple of abarth's in convoy on the M1 on the way home, a GP and a GP evo, they both gave me a good oggle and a (y) Molly could keep up with them no worries as well :)

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

Nothing much to report.. Went out to buy some service parts, got new plugs nut couldn't find anywhere that had any ignition leads in stock  so had to order some, also ordered replacement panel filter (pipercross).

Got Milo the Stilo back at the weekend, so couple of pics were in order :p

Re: Molly II - Punto GT3

So Molly now has new plugs, leads and air filter. Didn't do the oil as Alex kindly gave it to me with fresh oil and filter in it. The company i got the pipercross panel filter from has for some reason sent me another one . I've only paid for one though so i'll save it til this one needs cleaning and i will just swap it for a new one instead :)

Noticed the radiator wasn't in the best of condition while doing the plugs, so got a brand spanker waiting to go on, hopefully doing that and fitting the GT bumper this weekend (hence why i didn't flush the coolant out while i was servicing it).
Been having a few idling issues but got my multi-meter back y'day and discovered the battery is clearly fubar'd. Ok if you drive it everyday but leave it any longer and it loses it charge - so will be swapping that today before doing anymore diagnosing.

Also have some black vacuum hose and heat proof vac hose sheilding on order with a view to replacing all the vac lines i can find. Oh and from same place i'm getting a Turbosmart dawes device boost tee to replace the pierburg valve which i suspect is faulty. This weekend i will be ordering all new badges, numberplates and wheel bolt covers.

Here's some more recent pictures, as always I'll upload more as the parts arrive and get fitted.
All tucked up together:)

Oh and this last picture reminds me.. I have re-hung the exhaust as it looked to low, found the rubber hangers were on in the wrong places, doesn't catch speed bumps now :)
