Following a thread from nitrane about mapping his car and finding that the standard 899 BOB was incapable of flowing enough air to get above 70bhp, I tried a wee experiment with two bobs, or, as now christened, BIG BOB.

Its WIP, but still fits and should flow a good bit more.

Cheers

According to nitrane the orifice is too small at about 36mm when the TB is 40mm, and also the top of the Bob is too close to the mouth of the TB causing flow problems.

Hopefully this will resolve both issues.

This is true. Although it depends on the size of TB you're running and what sort of output you're looking for. Simple maths tells you that a 36mm inlet is going to restrict a 43mm TB!

The close proximity to the entrance to the TB was a possible cause of resonance in the inlet manifold. Upshot was that we could not get the engine to rev through with the induction kit fitted, power just fell away after about 70bhp. In the end the car was mapped without the bob and induction kit, and you will have seen the results elsewhere.

I like simplicity of your solution David. Mine is to have a taller, longer alloy air box/plenum fabricated to match up to a shortened GSR induction hose - i.e. a simple 70mm ID elbow, on to the cone filter.

The technical drawing is done, i just need to cost up and commission it.

Feel free to contact me with a drawing of what i required and we can give you a quote on how much it would cost to make. We made a one to bushboys designs a while back now and im sure we could make one for yourself and others if you wish

You got PM with pdf.

Im not sure if this has been done before but i think this would give a better flow, i think its needs to be a little higher than it is at themoment because its the same height as the standard "Bob". Im aslo wanting to know what size infeed would be best its 50mm at the moment?
