Just wondered peoples opinions/experiences of these? Had one in y before and they are rapid, well handling cars.Bidding on one on ebay familas a project to do up and modernise in general. Wonder what one will be like after 110000 mile :)

Im gathering this is a citroen xantia? i have never heard of that trim/model before.

For a 110k i would want the hydraulic system to be in very good order and some sort of paperwork regarding servicing/repairing should a problem have occured with it in past.

No history, would possibly avoid - perhaps selling due to hydraulic system on way out

Diesels are pretty bullet proof if its a HDI

Link to auction might help :)

i find that all citroens/peugeots/renaults with age (or even some new ones), can get very squishy seats :D

ive only ever been in a xantia v6 i think for about 10 mins so dont really know what there like :p

it did go quite fast though

Nice find, potential sleeper if it goes cheap enough :) expecting a reserve close to 1000-1500 IMO to cover costs

Echo my sentiments from first post i.e. hydraulics + want to see plenty of bills of all work and parts received :)

asked about sh & bills, engine only 6 hr job if all bits there and nothing been damaged in removal. tweak actuator and 25hp for free as well! so will be a sleeper. Have full alpine jaguar ice and satnav system to go in it as well tomorrow, re-gas aircon at work, get seats re trimmed in back, some x type seats in front then think me dad may be running it as a daily driver. He seems to have taken a shine to it :bang:

Found a little box of tricks at work that plugs into suspension ecu and keeps all sensor in sync as they default into soft non sport mode and wont change as ive been told and this little box got me thinking about the car in the first place :D

its got suspension failure (common and expensive fault) and the engine has been removed so its worth £300 on a good day.

There is a buying guide for this car in this months Practicable Performance Car mag, worth buying the mag to read up on it.

Basics from article:

Engine good for 200K if maintained well, its a 2L 8V low boost (0.6bar) turbo making 150bhp@5300rpm & 173lb ft@2500rpm, upping the boost to 1bar makes an extra 25bhp and nudging the far side of 200lb ft.

It is a fairly heavy car at over 1400kgs though, so its not that quick as standard, and fuel economy is under 30mpg town driving higher on longer runs, but when a cars this cheap who cares:)

Leather was a £1500 extra new, so nice if car has it.

Electrics known to be pretty reliable with only the heated seat elements know to fail which can't be bought as a replacement, so would mean a new seat, could be good bargaining tool.

Separate ECU runs the complicated suspension and on occasion can blow diodes, 10p from Maplins to fix. The only significant problem and the reason for many cars early demise is the hydraulic balancing rams, if they both need replacing its £600, bushes can also wear in height correction system but cost £2 each, though they do say the system is otherwise very reliable.

Though a nice bit of trivia from the article, the Citreon Zantia Activa will pull slightly more G force in a corner than a Honda NSX or a Ferrari 512BB which for under a grand is ubber impressive.

Price guide;
Condition A £1000-1500
Condition B £600-1000
Condition C £200-600

Aaron.

Went in one of these when they were new (as a passenger, was way too young back then) and it wasn't a bad car. Like any Citroen, though, I'd avoid owning one from new due to their colossal depreciation. As a used prospect it's certainly more interesting than the obvious choices at this money, and with a bit of lightening here and a tweak there it should be a good performer.

It ended up as a choice between this, a Primera GT and a Civic Aerodeck VTi and the Honda was the final choice.
