Coming back to this...I bought a white car, intentionally and can honestly say I would not have bought it if it wasn't white (there were 3 cars like mine in stock same price, red, black and white and the white one had the highest miles). Certain cars suit it, definitely stands out more than a car in the same spec in a different colour however it's just as much of a nightmare to keep clean in winter as you'd expect.

So this time round I didn't compromise on colour, but I was spending more money so, kinda fits in to my original reply.

The colour can make a big difference to the way a car looks - some look good in one colour, but not others.
The weirdest thing is when the colour makes it look bigger or smaller. A few years ago I had a Mk1 Golf GTI. My uncle had one too. Mine was black, and his was bright red. The strange thing was his always looked bigger than mine, even when the were parked side-by-side. Optical illusion...

I wouldn't own a pink car, but the most fun hire-car I have ever driven was pink. It was a Scootercar (two-seater; three wheels, two at the front and a 250 scooter engine in the back) very small, very pink and a damn good laugh. Of course the fact that it was in Hawaii also helped...

You can always change a car's colour later, but you can't change the mileage.
I didn't even consider the colour when I bought mine.

White cars are a pain to keep clean. Especially around tiny lanes.

I'd compromise on colour if it was something I really wanted e.g. my Hakosuka Skyline (actually the most beautiful thing ever).

But if worst came to worst, and the car had some value, I'd cheat, get it resprayed or vinyl'd.

Personally, I'm not really bothered about colour. Obviously, being a bloke, I wouldn't buy a pink car, but that's the only no go for me, lol! My 1st car was metallic orange, my 2nd car was metallic grey, and my current car is metallic black! All 3 look great when clean and shiny!

Some years ago, we drove a dark red Ford with black leather interior as a rental car during a Florida vacation.
That combo,never again, it was so uncomfortable, entering the car after standing in the heat for some time...

Depends on the model of the car tbh. Just bought a GP, I refused to look at silver or lighter coloured ones. The car suits darker colours imo

But my Mk2 Punto was a terrible sort of metallic mint green colour :yuck: but it grew on me and I grew to love the colour . Although i never saw one the same colour as mine!

Can't remember the colour code off the top of my head. I never saw another one like it. It was a pain in the arse trying to point it out to people :bang:. "see that green one over there?" "do you mean the silver one?" :bang:

Got a black GP now so all is good

Yeah spot on with the colour, though it was an 05 plate so that would be pretty late?

Yep, that's the colour I was thinking of, lol! I do still have a major fondness for the old mk2s.

I did love the Mk2 only go rid of mine because I was in an accident with a rather large Audi. Almost impulse bought a yellow Mk2b the other day. Had to stop myself .
