Hey again, a while ago I was planning on a sound system but didn't want to lose the Blue & Me functions of the car, however I've found the solution.

I've had a complete overhall of my sound system, and purchased an all Vibe setup, and it sounds mint.
What I've bought:
1 x Vibe Black Air Active CBR12" Evo Sub (changed my mind over the 10 when I arrived)
1 x Vibe Slick A2 Amp
2 x Vibe SE-K series front door speakers
2 x Vibe SE-K series tweeters
2 x Vibe Black Air 6's for the rear

But, with all this... kept my original head unit, the sub only plays bass and no vocal thanks to the low pas amp
settings and is wired from the back of the head unit (no preouts, so used an RCA converter) - May update the head unit in the future...

Pictures to follow with all the information of what the pictures are of, naturally.

Hopefully I'll find some time to write a guide, but if not I'm sure I'll be able to help (sort of) lol.

thats what i did too matey, seemed the easiest thing to do, nothing too showy for opportunist theives and all fits in flush and matches the rest of the dash. :)

are the rear speakers pigs to get to? and are they the same size as the fronts?

Nope bigger than the fronts and don't plan on driving your car for an entire day if you want to change the rears, I swear it would be easier to get into Area 51 than it is to get the bloody speakers, it was a laugh mind, just make sure you remember which bolts go where.

Sounds amazing though.

I got mine at Western Car Radio, (free, as were all the wiring kits actually lol, suppose they have to chuc something in when you spend so much - Awell worth it every time I turn the car on, I get a little Thud from the sub

P.s Maplins is very good for things like tis, they've got some nice subs aswell.

Tar Tom

i have one that you can have mate if you like... providing you pay postage of course! :p

although having said that i never used one! (y)

This is slightly off topic but i would really like to upgrade my speakers in the near future as i have the optional sub and when i get to a certain volume it just crackles and sounds awful. Im assuming good speakers would help this even if i kept the original headunit, sub, etc.

Rich

yes, but it also depends on how the signal etc is sent to them. the best way would be to upgrade the stereo with the standard speakers, rather than the other way around iirc... but then you might aswell upgrade the standard speakers too if doing that.

im not quite sure how the Fiat sub package works, but on mine i can control the bass on the back of the sub and then control it even more on the H/U which i have set usually at about -3 or -2 then this enables the speakers just to handle the treble rather than treble and bass and then the sub can deal with the bass. the speakers are pretty good tbh as standard, but obviously replacing them with better units can imo only be a good thing Richard.

Tell you what, it's made such a difference, sound quality is awsome, I've fitted a graphic equalizer to the car now so instead of having to play with the head unit which only has 2 options I can set it up as if I had an upgraded HU - Which is the only original bit left on the car lol (audiowise I mean)

Pics Pics Pics!!

The set-up really does sound the nuts, cant wait to see some pics.

If i had the choice i would change everything like Tom but i very much doubt i can stretch my cash that far at the moment.

If you dont mind me asking what sort of amount are we talking for what you have done.

Rich

:D Nope, don't mind at all. In all I spent a little under £500 (I know cheap) and got almost £1800 worth of kit. My mate and I went to the place I got my lot, for some Alpine products for the system he's setting up, got him almost £200 off - The key is Haggling, on everything, from the £8.99 RCA lead I got for free to the £150 amp I got for £65.

My mates word's were "Don't get done, get Tom", made me chuckle anyway so shhh

Offer stupid amounts Rich, something they'll never think of excepting, and you'd be suprised with their response - Make sure you deal with branch managers though as they can give the best deals.

I know you only asked how much and not how, but I like to babble :)

Oh and pics are coming very soon, the sub even has blues LEDs inside that illuminate the tube
