Technical Winter tyres - anyone got them?

my tyres are getting towards the end of their life on the front, however been able to drive in the snow fine, couple of spins, however, been using 2nd a lot to pull off and sport mode to drive as well and its a lot better (im not thrashing it, still only going slow)

bravo has been able to cope better than the saxo, and a lot better than i thought it would, thought al that power would make it a right PITA

im on brisgestones and not far away from spent

i think its could be down to how the power is put down. The throttle is quite long on a tjet sport and silly power further up the rev range. Saxo has all the pwer at the start of the throttle so it spins like a bitch.

but as for turning, the bravo has a nice width compared to boggy standard saxo steelies and the bravo is alot more stable.

it takes practice to drive on snow and a frame of mind not to change driving style the more confident you get (something a lot of people find hard to do- my mrs and brother being 2)

Just wonder how many miles everyone got out from their tyres, I done just over 18k on my 150mjet and all my tyre is down to 4mm, I swaped the front to the rear about 3k ago, as thing goes, i dont think they will make it to 25k, seems low to me.

16,000 miles for the fronts. Rears managed another 4,000 miles while on the front then replaced for new ones ready for a long distance holiday.

Think I'll be stepping up my search for winter tyres. Was struggling to get up the hills today. Summer tyres do not like snow at all. I've never had such little grip - but on the flip side I've never had so much grip in the dry and wet.

Not even the 4x4s dared take to the outside lane... yes this is a dual carriageway. :D

yup bought them. size is the same like summer tires that came with the car so 205 etc. Goodyear.

I'm on Goodyear Eagle F1s... Pretty much no radial grooves!

Possibly the worst tyres you could have in snow! I had them on my old Punto and it struggled to even move from a standstill if it looked at snow!

They are SUPERB in the wet and dry...just not snow!

Got me thinking about getting them again now when the current tyres need replaced...and then buy winter wheels too!

Yep! They're awful in snow. Best tyres I've ever had on dry and wet roads. Thinking of getting the Tipo out for driving on snow as it's got the best all around tyres ever - bridgestone potenza re720s :worship:

Hellcat - yep, cause people have no experience of driving on snow. I'd prefer to drive on a right lane rather than on this snow-mud! Winter tyres are not only for snow but for a cold weather - if temperature drops down below 10degrees ur standard tyres will change their behaviour - rubber is getting much harder and tyres will loose their grip.

I have 2 get winter tyres and wheels for next year for my bravo - max dimensions will be 195/55/16.

That's how i end up one day driving on road covered in ice back home - 20th of December 2004... I've been only doing around 50km/h (40km/h too fast) - Renault Kangoo 1.5dCi - brand new winter tyres on all 4 wheels - couldn't prevent car to skid - no reaction to acceleration, braking, steering wheel movement - absolutely NOTHING could save me.

Total damage to the car? NONE. Absolutely nothing broken! Miracle, I know...

On last photo u can see how was the road like - ice... About the van that put my car back on wheels - he had winter tyres Dunlop Scandinavian or smth like that - with drilled holes for spikes. These tyres were just eating ice!
Good winter tyres are the basic thing that is a "must have"! Don't forget that even best winter tyres wont win with ice - keep it on ur mind!!!
