Hello, Can someone please help by letting me know how to remove the casing on 500L wing mirror safely, i've searched the internet but all i can find is for 500's and 500x but they dont explain where the clips are to release. Thank you.

Just realised i can get to the ambient temp sensor by just removing the mirror, can anyone explain the best way to do this please ?

Annoyingly there is one torx bolt that is covered by the door card. So you need to remove that first. Then you can remove the three bolts retaining the door mirror. The body coloured shell over the mirror just levers off. I bought a set of plastic trim levers for pennies - it saves scratching the bodywork.

I removed my mirror and foolishly replaced it with one from eBay. Put it all back together and the temp sensor didn’t work. It turned out I’d been sold a LHD driver’s mirror instead of a RHD passenger mirror (in the UK!). They are different. I did think of fishing out the temp sensor and putting it in the new mirror but they were considerably different and it wasn’t easy to remove the sensor itself.

Probably easier to get a new mirror with the sensor in it.

Hello, thanks for the info, i was wondering whether i can just snap the mirror out of the shell and get to the sensor from there, may sound a daft question but do i need to disconnect the battery before soldering the new sensor on ?

I’m assuming that you are looking to change the sensor without removing the mirror? You will be able to remove the glass and that will expose the innards of the unit. Removing the cowl will help.
the plug for the mirror assembly is fairly easy to reach and possibly without removing the door card. I doubt that soldering would damage the electronics but why not disconnect the battery in any case.
