General Windscreen wipers

My wipers are so juddery now it is not even funny. Is there anyway to adjust them? It feels like they have too much pressure on the windscreen maybe a lighter swing on the windscreen from the wipers would help?

If i go to the dealer i am sure they will tell me to replace them even if they dont need it; they are barely a year old!

Gents,
I have a problem with the wiper, main blade. It does not judder but it does not wipe properly in the middle. The up wipe works great the down wipe leaves a band of water right in the line of sight. I have cleaned the blades, reset the blades on the windscreen and even bent (only slightly) wiper arm to get more pressure on the middle.

Any ideas for what I can try

If it's the OE wiper blade, replace it - mine did this, on the down stroke there was a smeary mark left, clearly the blades are getting distorted in the factory or something.

The car only has 2500 miles on so very new. I will have a look in getting it replaced. Do I just pop into Halfords and get a pair?

Cheers for the info guys

Hello!

I had a few problems with my new 500's wiper blades recently, was recommended by members on here to change to a pair of Valeo Silencio's or Bosch Aerotwins, I changed to Valeo's and they're now much better!

Also had to alter my wiper arm a little to stop the two blades banging together on the 'up-stroke'!

All this after doing about 350 miles!

Think wiper blades/arms aren't Fiat's strong point!

Yeah no joke i think fiat are just being stingy with their wiperblades; hence the stock ones not so good.

Quick recommendation for getting your Aerotwins from Autosessive on Amazon:

Fiat 500 07/2007 Onwards Bosch Aerotwin Windscreen Wiper Blades A300S TWIN PACK: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

My set just arrived this morning. The first set, sent Royal Mail first class, got sent back by Postie for reasons unknown. Autosessive sent replacement ones out the same day that they realised this had happened (yesterday) and they arrived this morning.

Very quick to respond to emails sent through Amazon - recommend them strongly.

Have them on the punto and as above are great..

I have already made a post including these information but i'm doing it again because its relevant.

Since i work at Bosch, i'm aware of the product codes etc. The 500's windscreen is slightly curved, as a result only specific wipers can be installed.

Here is the list of the Bosch wipers for the Fiat 500 in UK.

Wiper blade Aerotwin Spoiler, set / 3 397 007 300 RHD Vehicles

Wiper blade Aerotwin Multi / 3 397 008 571 RHD Vehicles driver's side

Wiper blade Aerotwin Multi / 3 397 008 794 RHD Vehicles front passenger's side

Wiper blade, rear(H840) / 3 397 004 802

I'm also posting the list for Greece.

Ελαστικό υαλοκαθαριστήρα Aerotwin Spoiler, σετ(A 299 S) / 3 397 007 299 LHD Vehicles

Μάκτρο υαλοκαθαριστήρα, πίσω(H840) / 3 397 004 802

At least, in UK you're also able to buy each part of the front wipers separately where here, we are able to buy it only complete as a set.

Ahmett, is not necessary to change the wipers every time, you can change just the rubber parts at a gas station! These parts can be changed as easily as they can be destroyed! For instance, if you park under a tree and some leafs fall on the windscreen, the rubber parts get ruined. This has happened to me many times and changing the wipers every time is far expensive! It's just a suggestion but think about it, if you wanna save some money!

Just another thing to add to the list. The main and larger blade which covers the UK drivers side sometimes bends and drags across the windscreen in such a way it scares the living daylights out of me, not great whilst driving along. Mine is 2 years old.

If you look on the windscreen there are rows of dots where the blades should be at their resting positions. I recall that the passenger side blade dots are nearest the passenger door end of the blade and the driver's side blade the other end (but you will find them if you look closely).

If the blades are not positioned close to those dots then they will occasionally collide. Happened to me and scared the cr*p out of me.

Maybe you need to replace them?

Same happened to me on the TA the first time I was out in the rain. Was only a couple of mins. away from the dealership and they realigned arms. Service Manager explained about the 2 x lines of 3 dots on the windscreen. If you look face on at the windscreen the 3 dots are as RPJ states, passenger side blade dots are nearest passenger door. The driver's blade dots are 35cm to the left of the passenger ones.

I was wearing brown trousers at the time so didn't notice the cr*p

My Screen wows on a TA that is 3 weeks old from new

I had the juddering from new ( 3 weeks old TA now ) on the long wiper (RHD drivers side) and was unable to stop it juddering no matter how I cleaned the screen with AG Fast screen etc etc or be adjusting the wipers and the arms.

Nothing made a difference, I still had a missing wipe in the middle of the long blade and continuous juddering on both blades with the blades also nearly touching.

So I Ordered a set of Bosch A300S Blades for the Fiat 500 off Amazon, as this was by far cheapest price than Ebay and others. They turned up the next day and once fitted ( 5 seconds work ) solved all the Fiat wiper blade issues straight away. Full clean wipe on both arms and Zero Judder !!!!

Amazon seller : [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/seller/at-a-glance.html?ie=UTF8&seller=A1XXE93GKB45NW[/ame]. Free postage £21.50 all in
Item : Bosch A300S Twin pack

What I did notice was the Bosch blades have a different mechanism to its mount to allow it to be more flexible onto the screen curve as Bosch break the spine of the blade into 2 parts with one blade for the wipe not as per Fiat OWE blade.

Bosch A300S, Highly recommend them on a Fiat 500

Interesting for my Porsche, Bosch are not the best blades for the screen curve the Porsche ones are, all contra to Fiat OEM’s as these are not the best blades even though they make the car ;-)

Fiat must have had a bad day when the purchased the wipers for the car in the factory!!!

Perhaps it’s the old saying you pay for what you get !!!
