Hello

Where is the OBDII connector located on my 1999 Fiat Marea Weekend 2.0 20v 155hp ? They tell me it's supposed to be "close to the drivers seat"... any clues?

I have started to build a fault code reader/rs232/obd converter at work for my car... that I haven't got home yet from the dealer. Will be arriving tomorrow :)

Thanks for a great forum.

"5-Data link connector (DLC)"

I'm so sorry. I see now in the "sticky" at the top page where it (probably) is located. Is this the one I am looking for? Number 5 in the picture?

on a 99 2.0 model you will have 2 diagnostic ports. both of them will be the fiat 3 pin type.

to connect the 3 pin fiat connector to a 16 pin obd2 connector you need 4 lengths of wire. use 3 lengths of wire to connect the 3 pin connector to the obd connector. also use 1 length of wire for power to the obd connector.

on the 16 pin obd2 connector use the following pins
4- chassis ground (connect to ground on 3 pin connector, or any good chassis earth)
5- signal ground (connect to black wire pin on 3 pin connector)
7- k line (connect to white wire pin on 3 pin connector)
16- 12vDC (connect to battery positive terminal)

Thankyou!

I have ordered the components today, and will mostl certainly be able to start the buildup this weekend. Will come back to you with my findings.

Perhaps I can help you guys to avoid having to go to a garage getting diagnostics for outrageously high £30 that I have seen quoted on this site.

Cheers,

Tomas
