General What car did you sell to buy your 500 and why

I sold my 2001 BMW 3 series (to my mum) to get my 500. I do an 80mile round trip to work and it was costing me over £300 a month to run. I was out looking for new cars and as a bit of a joke and to satisfy my girlfriend we decided to look in the Fiat garage. I'm glad I did. I didnt stop smiling for the entire test drive and now I have an amazing red with white stripe 1.3 diesel sport. My fuel bill has been almost halved and i smile all the time im driving!

It's amazing the amount of guys who buy the 500s for their missus (in your case your girlfriend) and then end up driving the car themselves. Enjoy the new 500 - the 95bhp MJ is quite an engine. Looiking forward to seeing pics up on the gallery.

I sold (and miss!) my astra 1.8 cabby, it had to go due to running costs im afraid...... oh and the fact the GF is learning to drive!......

Give it a few weeks and you wouldn't miss it one bit. Your current 500 is a good stepping stone to a 500c or a A500c would be even better. That would still beat the Astra at the pump station. You'll be amazed at the parking spaces you'll be able to get into.

Hi
I have just sold my 41 year old porsche 911e and just placed my order for a fully loaded (ooohh gadgets) twin-air 500 sport. After 11 years I would like something modern

I'm afraid I got mine used so I won't be able to tell you what the new engine is like. On the plus side whoever had the car before had good taste and put a few good extras on, I got everything I wanted.

Externally she is fine and mechanically she is the most reliable beetle ah sorry i mean car I have had but hidden away there is rust in places that I would have to spend 10 grand on her to get her into a fit selling car, which I dont have so she is worth £10,000 less than I would of wanted but a new fiat 500 sport fully loaded out of her is not a bad exchange.

*****STOP PRESS*** the fiat dealer has just rung me (a few hours ago) and told me FIAT UK have told them not to place any orders for FIAT 500 sport's as the "range is changing" I dont know what this means, maybe the sport is getting the 500 TA 105hp engine?. I might post this elsewhere maybe someone knows the answer

The US have a different shape Sport to us. Plenty of pics on the US web sites. There are plans of a TA 105bhp model in the form of a 'coupe'.

I did scrappage on my Fiat Cinquecento M -reg. I had him 2000 - 2009. Bought him for £2,500 and had him for 9 years, got £2,000 off a new Fiat, so in effect he only cost me £500 for 9 years awesomeness!

To be honest when I'm driving round town I still really miss the fun go-cart-like drive of the little Cheekychento - I felt much more in-touch with the surroundings, but the beautiful looks of the 500 make up for it a little bit. The 500 feels like I'm wrapped in thick armour in comparison, much more suited to the motorway.

My ideal car would morph from the Cinquecento in town to the 500 on the fast roads!

I think it's the Twin Air for you next time :). That Cinq. cost you nothing !

I sold a 99 Chrysler Stratus Convertible 2,5V6 to but the 1,2pop(y) I miss it on sunny days tough and the nice leather interiour it had. was not too bad on fuel either, but far from the 500(y) Would not change the 500 for anything tough, except maybe for an A500C in bicolore:p

Sold a New Beetle 1.8 Turbo in 2008 to buy a '73 VW Bus.:(

Sold the VW Bus last week to buy a 2008 500 1.4 :)
