General What age is our Panda?

Bit of a strange on this, which has bugged me for a while.

The 1000CL we've got is a Northern Ireland import with an Irish ageless plate. But when you look at the log book it hasn't got the date of first registration, its only got the date of first use in UK, with is mark as 1999.

I was just wondering with everyone's infanite knowledge, if someone could tell me the rough year of sale/manufacture. The thing that I'm hoping will help is the fact that its a carbed Panda, with dizzy, no CAT etc, but not a conventional coil.

Its got some strange coil pack mounted to the bulk head where the conventional coil is normally placed, and just to confirm its not got twin coil packs. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow incase it helps.

I don't know why, but I get the feeling its around a normal G-H reg.

if you go to the e-per page and you enter the chasis numer in the VIN, doesn't it show you all the details of your car including the manufacturing year and month?

The number plate is 'KDZ 5901' if it helps. I'm going to take a pic of the coil because it think its type was only used for a very short period of time.

If you go to the Eper screen, put in the VIN number and click, the vehicle detail screen will come up. Go to the "date of manufacture window" drop the menu and you will see that it only goes back as far as 1993.

Therefore, if the vehicle was manufactured prior to 1993, the screen cannot display the build date. I have proved this by searching on my own Panda's, one of which is a 1989.

As " Most Easterly's " Panda is a 1000CL and will therefore be most likely pre 1991, it is unlikely that the online Eper will provide the build date that he seeks.

Hello Jon.
The coil is not unusual, it is the dry coil ( one of several types ) that goes with the electronic ignition distributor that you have there.

No. sorry. It says date of first registration 07/1999 (think it was July 1999, but was definatly 1999)

and last keeper change would be around 2004/2005 when we brought it.

This is why I'm wondering when it was first sold, because they stopped them in 1995/1996 in the UK, so it cant have been first sold in 1999, this is the date it was brought into the UK from Northern Ireland I think.

The dates that I have only refer to its life in Northern Ireland.

The date of first registration in Northern Ireland was 31/07/1991.
The last Northern Ireland keeper change was 15/01/1998.
Then it went to England and went onto the English system so no more NI history. I'm presuming that your date of first registration 07/1999 refers to when it went to England, and was first registered in England as opposed to the sale to the first owner.

So it would have been first sold around July 1991.

There is but it wouldn't cover Nothern Ireland... It's DVLNI here
