West Coast Rally - 14th July - Irvine - Convoy

Right folks, been away to silverstone watching the F1 over the last weekend so not been active that much on here, but anyway, I'm back again.

So, what do you guys want to do? Meet up at Premier Inn, just off the A71 (Directions below) and then leave for the park. Times need to be worked out, still awaiting the time we need to be at the park. So who's meeting there up?

We need to be on site by 9.30AM. So we will need to be at premier Inn for about 9AM and then leave between 9.15AM and 9.30AM. Use the times I've managed to acquire below to work out your times

EDIT: Directions to meet:

FROM GLASGOW, EDINBURGH AND THE NORTH
Leave the M8 at junction 22 (A77/M77) and then turn off at for the A71 (Sign says: Kilmarnock (A 735)/Irvine (A 71)/Dumfries (A 76)/Edinburgh (A 71) and you will see a BP at the top of the slip road). Take the 4th exit (Irvine A 71). Follow Instructions Below:

FROM SOUTH
Head up the M6/M74/A74(M), leave motorway at A71 (Junction 8). Stay on A71. At roundabout with BP on it (A77/M77 roundabout), head for A71. Now Follow Instructions Below:

THE LAST LITTLE BIT
Follow road and at next roundabout, take 3rd exit. Follow road to next roundabout and take 3rd exit. Then find your way to the premier inn car park.

Average times:
Glasgow City Center (Charing X): 27 Mins
Newbridge, Edinburgh: 1 hr 16 Mins
M6/M74 at border: 1 hr 40 Mins

We'd actually be easier meeting at Premier Inn Kilmarnock as it's right by the A71.
But nearest Supermarket is Tesco Extra Kilmarnock, or we could meet up in the Glencairn Reatail Park.
There's a Tesco Petrol Station there if anyone needs fuel, or there's also a Shell Garage over the other side of the road.

Wright one wee word of warning peeps. The first stretch of the A71 from Bellfield Interchange (BP Kilmarnock) to the next roundbaout is a 50MPH speed limit.
There is often a Police Camera van in the layby with Police sitting waiting nearby, PLEASE do not get caught out.

I would like to say that ANYONE that speeds does so at their own risk, speed limits are a necessary evil unfortunately.

I'll probs leave home about 8:45 & come through Gatehead or I might just come up the A77 & A71.... hmmm see how I feel Sunday Morning.

Oh hell Mike, sorry to hear about your Gran. I hope it's nothing too serious


Gazebo is packed and ready to go along with the table, chairs and the whiteboard. Number plate is stuck back on with enough tape that it may never come off again :laugh: There's still lots of little things to pack but I have my list and as long as I remember my hay fever medication it should all be fine... honest...
