General Water Temp sensor plastic latch

anyone have experience with replacement of this sensor, specifically the plastic latch circled in red cant figure out how its meant to shift

Are you changing it for a P0115 error

Or gauge suddenly dropping

It's normally the thermostat not the sensor

Anyhow there a pain to unclip as everything is done by touch

See if I can find an old one to photograph the latch

The temp lingers around C then when its been sitting ignition off it goes back to the middle and then goes back to lingering between mid and c after driving somewhat

Sound like the thermostat is stuck open

Easy to test

Make sure there enough coolant

Start the car from cold

Put you hand around the top coolant hose

The bottom of the hose should stay cold for a couple of minutes

Anyhow here's the answer to your question
