Technical water leak!

Technical water leak!

Never seen a cracked block (yet!). More likely -- there are big core plugs at each end of the engine (and 4 on each side of the block).

If the block freezes, they tend to pop out. If the car is run without a proper concentration of anti-freeze, they rust from the inside.

One is actually beneath the bell housing.

So, it's a gearbox out job to do the one, but better an engine out job to do the lot.

Of course, it could just be a leak from the thermostat housing (kitchen towel as tell tale?) Or even from the inlet manifold (extreme thermostat side).

Thanks for the diagram, im guessing from te picture that its the core plug then as the amount of water coming out from the bell housing is quite severe and eveywhere externally is fine. must have blown it through when i flushed the system out. Looks like its going to be a long day then :(

Just a thought, before you have to dismantle half the car :) You sure the thermostat pipe didn´t bust a crack when you put it back on or that you properly tighten or over-tightened the clip on that hose?
