Hi, first post and I need help.
I have a Fiat Ducato X250 2008 motorhome in a remote area in France. The water in fuel filter light is on. So book says have it drained at Fiat Pro but nothing for hundreds of miles.
I have opened the bleed screw but nothing came out no water or diesel. Should the fuel pump be running to bleed the filter?

Does your vehicle have the plastic filter housing, "the green filter"

So almost identical to the all black, "green filter" on my 2.8jtd. I remember that when I checked mine, I had to loosen the screw more than I anticipated. If trying this make sure that you do not take the screw right out and lose it. Hope this helps.

PS. Could you also get an assistant. to turn the ignition on when ready to bleed. This will pressurise the system, so take care.

Thanks Communicator, I will give it another go. I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again communicator, worked a treat. Took about 0.3L out no sign of water. I can now continue my journey without worrying about water in diesel. I will get sensor and earth strap checked when I return to UK.
Just for anyone else who may read this, a empty french easily squashable 1.5L drinking water bottle can be manoeuvred into place and will hold firmly to collect the liquid.

Quick update. Purchased and fitted a new unit which comes with new sensors and filter pre fitted.
Part ref: UFI 55.148.00
£89.99 (Fiat £229 + vat)
Easy to replace, and problem solved.

Has anyone got the all black plastic type filter housing? DUCATO MH 2020. Its very hard to reach and assume light has to come out. I can fell a hexagonal item at the bottom of the housing. Does this turn to release any water? I have the water in diesel filter light on. Its strange as only seems to come on when the ad blue warning light comes on. These both used to turn off when i filled with ad blue but now ad blue light will not turn off even after filling. Concerned...
