Hi guys, I'm looking into starting a new project involving fitting a Fiat Uno Turbo engine in to a Panda 4x4. Anyone out there know if this can, or has been done? Any advice on the subject would be great.

Thanks

Paul

PS, I'm actually asking for a friend of mine.

It can be done, see the picture of the V6 in the Rally Panda Post, but it will not bolt in.

The largest (and rarest) bolt in engine is the 1301 CC GTIE engine from the lancia Y10. Next inline would be the 1242CC 16V Punto engine, a tight squeeze and the driveshafts, fuel pump, ECU etc would also be required. The most convenient is the Uno 1108CC engine, also to be found with fuel injection type nonsense in the Cinq sporting. Probably the fastest (and also least driveable) is the 1049CC Y10 turbo engine, again, unless you can fly to Mexico where it can be found in old FIAT Palios, it is very rare.

Hi Martin
The comment about also least driveable is this due to the sudden kick of the turbo cutting in? Which's is half the fun ;)

OT. Do you own a Y10 then i'm guessing?!

there was a y10 turbo in smithys scrap yard in bloxham (banbury) nr j11 of m40, not got contact number of it though, if wanted i can try dig it out again, although i havnt been there in 2 months or so, but everything was there 2 months ago (and its been there a while)

No it's more the high maintenance, long turbo lag, unreliability and complete lack of replacement parts that ruins it for me.

Make sure you get one with a good gearbox as it is unique to the car. The non turbo version has different ratios.
