I have a 2002 punto sporting 1.2 16v, had the brake pads replaced about 18-20mths ago covered around 6-7k on them. Noticed this morning they look like they are worn unevenly? It looks like the pad is wearing much quicker toward the outer edge of the disc and the pad is hardly worn on the edge closer to the centre of the disc is this normal wear pattern or not. There (at an estimate) 8-9 mm on the hardly worn bit and around 3-4mm on the worn part (I didn't measure these so don't take them as gospel)

Pads and discs were replaced at the same time with fiat parts by my local fiat dealer garage.

What do people think or suggest?

The calipers are floating single piston type so one pad always contacts before the other. Gentle braking most of the time will cause uneven wear.

If the sliding bushes in the caliper are tight or sloppy, the pad wear will be more uneven. Its also possible for the pads to jam in the caliper so they move only at one end. Make sure the pad ends and contact points in the caliper are "greased" with anti seize paste.
