Technical Ulysse trouble.. Again!

Just thought I'd update you on my shed. Changed the MAF sensor on Saturday (£20 new pattern part from Ebay). Superb! solved my cold start lack of power issue. The occasional heavy smoke/lack of power fault returned though - ********! Been out in the car about 8 times since though and no smoking. I'm hoping the smoking was due to the car re-learning its fuel/air mixture settings. Can you 'borrow' someone elses MAF rayme? My anti-pollution warning message shows occasionally too (and on my petrol 406 coupe), but what with my other faults (and yours by the sounds of it) I have to ignore this one for the time being. Do you want me to measure the voltage outputs on my new MAF so you can compare your readings?

My diagnosis was correct. The return pipe from No 1 injector to the filter was barely sitting in and it was spraying diesel all down the front of the engine and gathering on the bottom of the ac unit, this may explain the esp light coming on randomly. It was also working its way under the sump with the help of the airflow when the car was moving and must have been soaking the vent underneath, causing the smoke. The knocking noise must have been because the injector was not operating properly as it is gone now and the car is now running V smooth and with much more power. I just hope this is an end to the mpg trouble? Another thing i have found while investigating this problem was the side engine mount bolt part of the way out on the inside of the mount, either the mechanic that changed the cambelt forgot to tighten it or cross threaded it on the way and just left it (likely!) as it is tight but only 2/3 in! More bother, potentially, as it is extremely hard to get to. Watch out for this one after a cambelt change everyone. R.
had cambelt, water pump cat front pipe changed after 95000. was running fine for 2 weeks. Suddenly started with this new knocking sound which the garage states is a faulty fuel injector which requires the engine to be dropped and the injector/washer replaced. just paid £400 quid for the above but mechanic reckons its a big job for the fule injecor and will cost a bit through labour! Any suggestions....desperate!
