Technical TwinAir Loss of turbo power

Just a quick update on my original situation after it got more frequent.

Took it to my local dealership for investigation and it turned out the waste gate was stuck open. They managed to loosen it off and get it free flowing again and now the turbo response is much better and the car idles fine etc.

Have noticed a new issue recently however where when idling the car will start to vibrate heavily like a generator has been turned on in the boot or something. Done this several times now but not been able to pinpoint a cause.

I have just spent a while looking for something I saved off the net a while abck, but alas couldnt locate it. There is a firm in Holland who will repair the worn waste gate pivits and they had great write ups. If I can re find it I will post the details

Hi - yes the engine has to be running for the wastegate to close (which I believe is achieved by vacuum). It should do pretty smartly on startup. Look for play when closed (the hole in the actuator rod-end has a tendency to go oval, allowing some flutter on the wastegate.
Hi.. thanks for your swift reply mucho appreciated. That’s brilliant thanks for this info, will try it later when the other half returns. It’s only done about 19k so the hole is not too bad at the moment but will definitely keep an eye on it! Thanks once again buddy 👍🏼
