General Turning spot lights - like em or not

while i like the idea of them i think other people need to be educated on them e.g. the police. was pulled over last night by the police for misuse of my foglights. Explained the reason for this and gave him a demonstration but he suggested i take the car to dealer to rectify the problem as he thought it was bad wiring????????? I explained that many new cars have these but he stated that he had never seen this before.:bang:
Now, are these illegal? (don't think they are) and am i forever going to have to explain to dopey coppers why they do this?

Good. I got pulled for this too. He made even more of a tit of himself by putting it to me straight "You've got your foglights on" - No I don't I said. Repeat 3 times before he stopped trying to put words into my mouth and asked for an explaination.

Was infront of about another 10 policemen... I hope they took the p*** out of him for that.

what is the exact legality of these lights? after all the primary function of the lights is foglights which are only to be used in reduced visibility situations. it's not like they're driving lights of some description, which still needs to have two symmetrical positioned lights if they were.

The police should be aware of this function, Fiat have told them all about it however let them take you to court and then make idiots out of them. Other car manufactuers have used this system for years.

For gawds sake the car wouldn't be allowed on UK roads if this system was illegal!

they mistake them for fog lights because they are fog lights; they're absolutely useless as cornering lights.

they cover only 3 feet in front of the car.

I said indicators, not foglights. And the purpose of them as turning lights isnt to look more than 3ft ahead..... They look to the sides, and are incredibly efficient at it. I would find all my country driving a real pain in the neck without them.

And yes, if you mistake a fog light for an indicator, you shouldnt be driving.

there are many cars that have the indicators where you usually find fog lights.
