Technical Turbo'ing Burple!

I don't know everything, particularly about turbo conversions.

Its the fine folk on here who have kept me right, thanks guys and gals.

Now I have to find the bits for my car and get on with it, and I have a suspicion that a certain ycming of this parish may be on the phone soon.

Oh, and another project car may appear as well, and just remembered the Manta could do with a 5 speed box and possibly an injection engine.

Hohum, I'll not be idle, thats for sure.

Well I dont know where to start. Cant believe the time has came where by my little dream of turboing burple has actually came true. Its been a long but enjoyable battle, with burple throwing all she had at us! Hurdles which seemed huge a few months ago, seem like a distant memory.

It wasnt just the fitting of a turbo kit, but all the trials and tribulaitons that go along with it. I'm so glad that I had someone there who in my eyes, is an expert with these little cars. To ensure that not only was the job completed, but that every last little detail was finished to perfection and every hurdle burple gave us, not bodged but sorted properly. It took a while to ensure everything was done properly, but I know in the long run this will be something that will ensure the conversion withstands the pressures it will face.

I dont know if its possible for me to express how thankfull I am to David for all his hard work, the many hours, many miles and many nights labouring over a burple bay. I know deep down that without him this would have remained a dream, as his expertise and knowledge base has been invaluable. So if it means anything at all David, I am so so so gratefull for what you have done for me. I can never thank you enough.

I would also like to take some time to thank everyone who helped on the forum. For those who provided the wealth of knowledge that they have, to ensure this dream became a reality. Having such a knowledgable group of people, who have been there, done that and can pass on thier experiences and expertise. I hope one day this thread will also help out others who will be in the same boat.

I would also like to extend the thanks to the others on this thread who have gave thier support and contributed with well wishes and some encouragement, as it has been needed i can asure you! It Has been amazing to have recieved so many messages of hope and people expressing how they have enjoyed the journey along with us.

what more can i say...... Burple is Turboed!!!!!!!

That post makes you sound like a proud new mum who's just gotten out of hospital with her new baby :D

Congrats, it's a Burple!!

red lights are the rpm indicators and they go up and down, you should also see a green light while driving this means the mf2 is injecting fuel, gratz.

Thats the one up at the top, IIRC, comes on with ignition as well, me thinks.

I did wonder how I was supposed to know the injector was working.

Really needs to go on the rollers to be set up. Its using the previous owners settings just now.

Edit: Robinsons have retired from the tuning business. That means there is no body in Glasgow.

what about ava out by the airport?

Turbo's dont require any perticular running in proceedure, you just need to make sure it is primed correctly when fitted.

but, if your fueling is not setup then i would take it very steady, dont want to be melting a piston to soon!

good luck finding someone who can setup the fueling for you, unfortunately i dont know anyone up that way.

if it was originaly from a low boost cento then is there any real need to change it?

Its not just about changing it, I'd like to know that the second injector is actually injecting, not just sitting their laughing.

This is also a 1242, so I would expect some differences.

Its taken a long time to get to this stage, I don't want the phone call that says its blown up.

Thought youd have changed ur number by now anyway? ;)
Today I made it go vroom pschh vroom pschh in the garage :D :p

Still not seen the green light on the MF2, although maybe i wont be able to see it if its at the top, and still having the red eml light flashing on the dash. Would be good to find out whats goin on with the fuelling, although i doubt if she'd actually get on the rollers :(
