Fond memories of him on my drive collecting parts and demonstrating anti-lag lol

Haha what did I buy from you?

If you look back a few pages you'll see I went 1.2 16v turbo ;-)

Cars been off the road a few years but going to try get it back on the road and better then ever

I bought a whole tjet engine that I'm rebuilding to make sure it's 100% spot on.

Once the bottom end is done I'll start work on the head.

You purchased the Apex Lowering springs and shorter Apex shocks off my Cinq when I broke it lol, something to do with MOT or spares lol, you don't still have the do you??? would be very tempted if you do and are willing to part for cash as my cinq rode well on them.

I hate it when things like this happen, its stupid when a small mistake leads to big expense, took my bonnet off the other day and it slipped and guess what I broke???

shame they don't sell them singley.

Right. Rings ordered but going to take a while to come .

Started to strip the head.
And at the same time stripping a spare mk1 16v head (which I had in my garage for a few months since moving house only to find the box I had it in had filled with water from a leak in the roof!)

In going to try dig out a mk2 head to look at to!

BUT... So far I still say the mk1 head is by far the best!

I've poked around the water ways with a endoscope (pics will come soon) and internally it looks identical. The only difference I can see is a small thin brace across one of the water jacket outlets (which is the same on all later 16v heads)

The valves are the same size but the reduced part of the stem on the intake valve from the non turbo is thinner. Also even tho fiat say the exhaust valves are not the same metal as the non turbo engine, to me they seem the same (same hardness and colour)
But bare in mind I'm comparing this to the valves from the very early 1.2 16v head that might of been over engineered and designed more for performance rather then economy like the later engines.

Also the castings of the older head are MUCH better then the tjet head.

The mk1 head has very smooth ports with no real markings from the castings and a good texture.
Where the port splits to both valves is very nice and even

The tjet head has a very lumpy bumpy ports with quite a bit of flashing where the casting half a have been.
The where the port splits is a bit miss shappen and not very clean.

Also the port itself is not even and very poor!

Also the exhaust ports on the mk1 head are about 1mm larger from each valve then on the tjet head. I put this down the the better surface finish more then anything

IMHO the tjet head has been made a lot cheaper then even the mk2 head which is ****e compared to the mk1 head

Just an update! Rings finally here after 4 months. All fitted now so bottom end is all built, all new shells and rings and everything within perfect Spec! Hopefully this engine will run like a sawing machine! ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1428526721.980860.jpg

I have bought a new exhaust flange and getting bits together to make another manifold. I think of the first as a prototype, this one will be flawless and tweaked for better clearance and tig welded by a guy at work (who I might add is probably the best tig welder I've ever seen!)

I am probably going to continue using my intake manifold as it worked perfectly and don't see how I could improve it.

My next big job will be stripping down my gearbox and looking for ways to improve its strength and build the frame to use equal length shafts
