Tuning turbo time!

Tuning turbo time!

thanks kristian.

im thinking of going all out (hell ive done nothing less so far) and making a dual chamber plenum.

these are a mix of both the plenums that have a taper to evenly distribute the charge and the kind which high volume.

the tapered plenum is connected to the chamber plenum with a smallish slit for the air to flow through this is so that the flow is evenly distributed within the chamber.

the other advantage is that it will suit the shape of the 16valves alloy runners as the tapered plenum will sit in arc of the runners. (above the injectors)

im aiming for a chamber capacity of around 1.5liter

as for fitting it to the alloy runners... simple... drill the threads out of the runners and bolt from the under side :) just need to make sure I can access them bolts lol

Using a bike can ittl probably sound like a violent chainsaw :), + it may actually hamper/lose you bhp in the process, Personally id just use a normal for best gains and have one thats fab'ed into your downpipe for mot time!

quick update.

anyone tried cutting a 1.5inch thick slab of alloy billet by hand?... not fun!

it is to make my velocity stacks (as one unit) that will sit on the runners. the other benefit is its a big slab of alloy which will help seal the plenum to the runners and keep it there when under boost.

By hand Iwouldn't even attempt it. You could try see if a metal stockist would put it through a machine hacksaw for a few quid.

Not absolutely sure what you have in mind, but you could try scrap aluminium scaffolding tube (it's about 3mm thick) annealed, slit, whopped round a steel former and TIGed. I have about 12 metres.........

only nitros anti lag I've seen is on turbo drag cars where its injected into the manifold along with a very rich running engine that turns the Turbo into basically a jet engine.

the new antilag on Ms is from what I figure is on most production rally cars (like what the latest rally evo has iirc) and it basically opens a bypass valve along with bumping extra fuel with very retarded ignition.

its not far from what the current antilag is but you need to hold the throttle open. it works but the driving style is strange and awkward. and just not convenient.

the new system just means you drive as normal and all the anti lag is done for you.

the Guy looks to be working on a cooling system that is normally used on this type of anti lag which disables sparks in a set sequance so that each cylinder can have a couple of non powered strokes to cool the exhaust valve and seat down.
