Well here go'es people, it all started about two weeks ago with intermitent loss of power low down the rev range. Oh sorry forgot to mention the car is 150mjet dynamic. Well in to the dealer we went to be told 40 error codes were found and all deleted, but is was pointing to the air mass meter, so take it away and we will order another. So took it back today to find out the air mass meter had oil in it, on further investigation found oil in the turbo intake pipes, just been told the turbo is caput:bang: so have to wait for new one to arrive. The car has done 12300 miles, this is crap but least it under warranty, just want to know if any one else had the same problem. Thanks guys and gals.

None at all, 18k on mine. Bloody turbos! Don't despair, get it fixed and be happy again:D As you say - it's under warranty and doesn't appear to be an underlying problem with the diesels.

Thanks but it seems to take the edge off what i thought was a good car, but so far i have to say the dealer has been a credit to FIAT, so long may that continue VOSPERS in POOL CORNWALL.

No problem bravoblue. What I don't know is whether you bought it new or used (not that it makes a difference other than knowing how it was previously driven).
It seems you have had no major issues (OK turbo going is major but in terms of engine failures if you get my drift) and are questionning whether you have made a good choice in car. My answer would still be yes. Cars (all types) suffer failures whether now, slightly older or 5 years down the line. As a new or near new car you have the benefit of the warranty which means you will now have a new turbo - it happens and is what the warranty is for.
I have owned fiats now for the best part of 11 years and have had one or two warranty claims (worst being selespeed pump on my stilo abarth) - OK it's a pain in the arse and questions are asked of the build quality. the pump failed at 14k and left me stranded. Fixed under warranty and 3 years later I sold the car without having had any other problems.
Did it put me off fiat? obviously not!
Does this help a little more
Or how's this - my neighbour had a passat that was 2 weeks old and the engine blew.

Thanks wing 1200a what you say is totaly true this can happen to any vehicle, ca'nt wait to get it back, in answer to your question it was pre registered with 150 miles on the clock, and i have not had it remapped. The thing i love about this car is the styling it ai'nt like your other euro box's, and it's running right it goes bloody well. But ca'nt wait to hand the courtesy car back NEW FIAT MULIPLA oh dear.

Never seen a turbo problem reported for a new Bravo on here before. The Grande Punto has had turbo failures reported, but either way the turbos are supplied by an external company that also supply other car manufacturers, so it's definately not a Fiat specific fault. Renault, VW & Nissan all have multiple reported turbo failures, so don't let it worry you about the Bravo.

And what's wrong with a Multipla?! They rock. It's the only thing that makes me wish i had kids, wud love one.

I was asking in case it voided his warranty should the fiat guys get nosey but of course getting it remapped runs the turbo closer to it limits than it would without it.

I understand that but its been done to death on here about turbo failure, Fiat finding out, other makes with the same failing with ro without a re-map. If you look into other makes Forums you will see they all suffer it. Seat, BMW, VW, Renault, Citroen... the list is endless. Personally my re-map has transformed my car and at approaching 40,000 miles it may be time for a turbo overhaul anyhow but I have no iminent failure symptoms at all.

 what if he did? Mine was re-mapped at 32,000 miles and has 38,000 on now without a hitch.... turbo's fail.... end of.

Because there is alot of talk of dodgy batches of Turbos and whether remapping causes them to fail. We dont need to know about your turbo, it is different :)

Is it? Its a Garrett Air research variable vane on the GPS isnt that the same as on the Bravo's Pomp? I could be wrong but the GPS section has been full of Turbo "batch failure" as yet unconfirmed. I think usage / driving styles and lack of spin down / oil types are at the root of it but I cant say for sure, which is pretty much what the GPS Forum Posters got down to. :)

My bravo 150 m/jet has been remaped since 7000 and is sitting at 21000 now and no probs or even any sounds of one......(y)

I thought the 130 & 150 would have different turbos... Due to different power outputs?

Just trying to use my very limited knowledge of the Turbos.

Hiya people thanks for all your input, just want to say the car is back with me, and what a car it is, going like sh*t off a shovel again. It ended up with a new TURBO, AIR MASS METER and a EGR VALVE. And 10 out of 10 to the dealers they have been brill VOSPERS. But very sad to hand back the MULTIPLA not not not:worship:

did the replace it under warranty or did you have to pay ? handy for future reference

Not sure Pomp, isnt the 150 a 16 valver? 130 GPS is an 8 valve so that may explain the differing Outputs, and the base map of course. :)

Can anyone "in the know" tell us for sure if the 150 Bravo and 130 GPS have the same or different turbo's?
